If anyone is wondering: Robert Baggio, a football player, was against Brazil in the 1994 World Cup. He was the last person standing and if he didn’t score the goal to this shot then their chances would be over, he’d always dreamed of winning. So when he missed he nearly stood there standing for 20 mins. It’s called the man who died standing but he never actually died it’s just a metaphor.

I spent a lot of time on this so if you see this and want to give it a like that would be very much appreciated.

some of you are so wrong,
His name is Roberto Baggio
Before this World Cup he told his dying father he would win the World Cup for him
At a penalty he was up and missed his goal he then stood there for 20-30 minutes that’s why he is called “the man who died standing.”

For those who are confused here is what happened: so this guy shot a penalty and missed then he died it doesn’t really show it but he died while standing.

Kid Baggio: “Dad, I wanted to win the world cup!”

The real GOAT. His own teams' managers hated him, that's what kept from from obtaining the accomplishments that he rightfully deserved.

This penalty is the one that Roberto Baggio shot in the 1994 FIFA World Cup that made Italy lose the final and Brazil win their 4th World Cup.
Baggio stood there, hands above hips, looking at the ground, showing no physical emotion. At one moment, he just breaks down in tears.
He couldn’t save Italy.

One saying in Italy: “Sócrates died of poisoning, Nietzsche died hallucinating, and Baggio died standing.”

Explanation:

*Sócrates died of poisoning, * Nietzsche died hallucinating, and Baggio died standing.

Sócrates, a Brazilian professional football midfielder, died of food poisoning. The poison gave him an intestinal infection, and because of that, on December 4th of 2011, 57 years old Sócrates died because of a septic shock.

Sócrates died of poisoning, *Nietzsche died hallucinating, * and Baggio died standing.

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German Philosopher who died from Pneumonia.
He had a lot of conditions:

-Manic Depression
-Periodic Psychosis
-Vascular Dementia (Could cause strokes)
-Migraine without Aura
-Pneumonia
-And much more.

He died because of Pneumonia in 1900, but he did have a lot of Hallucinations.

Sócrates died of poisoning, Nietzsche died hallucinating, *and Baggio died standing.*

I don’t even have to explain this one.
When he missed the penalty, he showed no emotion, looking like he was dead inside. His body was there, but his soul wasn’t. His soul was seeing all the Tournament. His goals, his games, the plays, everything.
That’s why they say, as a metaphor, that Roberto Baggio died standing.

For those who don’t know, Baggio is still alive. It’s just a metaphor! He is 56 years old.

For those who dont know, rober baggio a italian FUT-BOL/soccer player Once took a penalty missed it and got sad and he “passed out” while standing or more better explaining here, In the 1994 World Cup final, Roberto Baggio missed a crucial penalty, which allowed Brazil to overcome Italy 3-2 in the shootout. The Italian forward bowed his head and stood motionless at the penalty spot for a while after missing. It was a mistake that will always follow Baggio.
