The delta shaped thing on the belly of the airplane under the hopper is called a spreader for spreading dry granulars like fertilizer or seed.
They take the spreader off and install spray booms along the trailing edges of the lower wings and a pump for liquids. The spreader and booms use quick connectors making them fairly quick to exchange. Most aerial applications are liquid now however. No one uses lead arsenic dust powder anymore like they did 80 some years ago. I don't like the term, but I guess that's why so many still call them crop dusters. I call them Ag Airplanes or Air Sprayers, but I guess it is what it is.

Question i have, why do some sprayers have this more solid type compared to ones that look more like just pipes along the wings?

They’re sure not getting very close to the crops. They look 500’ high.
