Left side: combine powers of fractions until you get 5 to the power of 7/8. On the right side, 125^x is the same as 5^3x. 3x = 7/8; x = 7/24. You can also do it by reducing fives until you get 5^(3.5 -12x) = 1, then 3.5-12x = 0, x = 3.5/12, which is the same result

Sou can simplify the left side as 5 raise to power 7/8 and the right side as 5 raise to power 3x and equate them to get the required answer.

Just square it 3 times.
LHS becomes 5⁷.
RHS becomes 125^8x = (5³)^8x = 5^24x.
So x = 7/24.
Just a few seconds in mind.

5^(7/8) = 5^3x

If you do the sqrt2 maths it is easier and faster, you can do it in your head then.

You will have 5^7/8 = 125^x

then power to 3 or sqrt3

you will get with power 3, 125^7/8 = 125^3x

then 7/8 = 3x

and x= 7/24

it is interesting. I kept squaring to get rid of the square root. then the problem is transformed like 5^7=5^(24x). so x=7/24. thank you~~~

Square 5 equals y so y elevated by 7/4 equals y elevated by 6 elevated by x. 7/4lny equals 6x lny . So 7/4 equals 6x. X equals 7/24 equals 0.291667

Why not just use the fractional exponents and get to the answer in half of the steps and less math along the way?
