It's somehow already here: the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 8 finale! It seems like just yesterday the season was beginning...

Everything the season has been building up to culminates in this week's season finale, as too-nice-to-be-real Cozy Glow finally puts her sinister plan into motion, with help from an old villain, Tirek! It's up to the Mane 6, Spike, the CMC, and the Young 6 to work together to defeat her and her dastardly plan.

As with all two parters, this one is filled to the brim with score. Totaling at 24 tracks and 34 minutes, while it might not best last season's finale in track count, it does top it in overall length, featuring multiple 2 minute+ tracks.

One of the most enjoyable parts of this finale's score is certainly the culmination of many of the leitmotifs introduced in this season and past. Both Cozy and Chancellor Neighsay are featured prominently throughout the episode, and both bring with them their motifs which were introduced in their introductory episodes this season.

In addition, Tirek returns for the first time since Twilight battled him in the season finale (excluding his brief cameo in the season 5 finale), over 4 years ago. As soon as he appears on screen, we hear his menacing orchestral leitmotif which accompanied him prior all those years ago. It's great that much like the character, his theme was not forgotten either; William Anderson is great at keeping track of all of these.

--Track Specific Comments--

As the group enters Tartarus, they see all of the magical creatures locked up in there. However, they two have lost their magical abilities. For this track, a melancholy glockenspiel and string cue is used, which we have heard in the series numerous times before.
