5G Pros And Cons | 5G Technology Explained

5G is the fifth generation of an internet connectivity standard used by phone companies for mobile phones. What this means is that 5g is supposed to be an improvement on 4G, just as that was an improvement on 3g and so on. In this video we will look at the pros and cons of 5G, which I have organised into 3 groups, the benefits/ disadvantages to the customer in terms of the quality of the new service, the cost of 5G, and the health risks associated with it.

Where you can find me!

Let’s get to it! The biggest upside to 5G is the increased download speeds, meaning that people will be able to access the internet faster, with shorter lag times. This is due to 5G using higher frequency radio waves which travel faster than 4G or 3G. One of the problems with this is that there is a risk of 5G resulting in slower internet speeds for people using 4G and 3G. This is because of the fact that the radio spectrum is not a mutable thing, it can’t change size so introducing higher frequency waves risks crowding out lower frequency waves, which 4G and 3G are a form of. Some have argued that this crowding out is a financially motivated decision, to incentivise people to upgrade to 5G.

This also neatly links to my next set of arguments for and against 5G, that of its cost both to the customer and the phone companies. One of the downsides of higher frequency radio waves is that although they travel faster, the distances they can travel are shorter. This leads to more radio masts needing to be put up, especially in urban areas. All of this costs money, costs which undoubtedly will have to be shouldered by the customers. As well as this there is an aesthetic question of whether or not people want the environment to be covered with radio masts. Proponents of 5G would argue that the benefits customers will get from it in terms of these increased internet speeds are well worth the increased costs.

The final group of arguments for or aganst 5G concerns its health risks to humans.
Now for starters it is improtant to undelrine that 5G, like 4G and 3G before it relies on radio waves which we are constantly surrounded by these radio waves from televesion and radio
as well as from mobile phones. Now the higher frequency waves that 5G relies on, as I’ve explained require more radio masts, becuase it travels shorter distances. Radio waves are also a form of radiation, and some scientists speculate that these higher frequencies as well as the increased number of radio masts poses an increased cancer risk to humans especially those in urban areas. 180 scientists wrote to the EU commission along these lines in 2019. Proponents of 5G argue that the scientific evidence for 5G being carciogenic, which means cancer causing,is not corroborated, and at best inconclusive. In fact in 2014 the World Health Organisation argued that "no adverse health effects have been established as being caused by mobile phone use". As for the recent conspiracy theories circulating that 5G causes Coronavrius, there is absolutely no evidence for that.

To conclude, 5G is the newer, faster internet connectivity standard for mobile phones. Because of its reliance on higher frequency radiation, it requires the building and installation of more radio masts, especially in urban areas, which raises an economic and aesthetic downside. However proponents would argue that the advantages of faster internet are worth this. The need for more radio masts and use of higher frequencies has raised the issue of a possible carcinogenic risk associated with 5G, although this remains unconfirmed. That’s 5G, please like share and subscribe.

Abstract: This patent describes a scientific explanation for what causes lightning and thunder and how to replicate it using high-frequency soundwaves such as radar and microwaves. The uses for this are mainly in military weaponry and weather modification. This is a very high energy weapon, and is capable of great damage if not used properly. Uses of this invention include: Missile defense, aiming at a nuclear missile to disable all electrical and electronic systems with electromagnetic pulse (lightning) and break the missile apart with the concurrent acoustic shockwave (thunder). Other uses include installing the devices in airplanes, helicopters and tanks to fire lightning and thunder upon whatever it is aimed at: air-air combat, air to ground combat, ground to air combat, tank to ground combat. This technology could obsolete guns and fired projectiles if widespread military utilization is made. The system can be used to either start or diffuse a @t Control Patents (Class 239/14.1
