This is a quick and easy way to add any character or just simply change the player character in the new motion matching game animation sample project. We also take a look at how to add our own custom mesh to traverse. You can use this method on pretty much any mesh that uses the UE4/5 skeleton.

This worked flawlessly thank you. I used a mixamo character straight from mixamo and followed these steps.

LOL, I already knew how to bring in a character into GAS but you taught me a simple technique to create those traveral walls and ledges. Cant believe I did not think to do it that way, thanks man !

Hey Bro! Would you be able to explain the process with modular pieces? I tried adding them as a child to the mesh and then setting leader pose with all the attached pieces, but it wasn't able to load. Great content btw!

My comment could be out of ignorance. But I vehemently believe that re-targeting in UE5 is too convoluted.. hope they implement a better way to do this for this EXTREMELY common need in UE.

i followed this but it seems like only my characters legs work properly his upper body is still in a t pose, the retargeter said it was unable to find the root bone, amongst other bones
