Angel food cake is light and airy and deliciously sweet. The perfect angel food cake recipe is also easier to make than you might think for the perfect sponge cake, every time.

✅Ingredients

• 3 cups powdered sugar, divided
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup cake flour
• 12 egg whites
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
• 1½ teaspoons cream of tartar

✅Instructions

1️⃣ 00:01:21 - In a large mixing bowl, sift together 1½ cups powdered sugar with salt, and cake flour. Set aside.

2️⃣ 00:02:06 - In another large mixing bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together egg whites, vanilla extract, almond extract, and cream of tartar. Whip for 2 minutes. Slowly add in remaining 1½ cups of powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

3️⃣ 00:03:12 - Sprinkle some of the flour mixture on top of the stiff egg peaks and gently fold in. Repeat this process to gradually fold in all of the remaining flour mixture.

4️⃣ 00:03:49 - Scrape into an ungreased tube pan.

5️⃣ 00:04:17 - Bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until the top is lightly browned and is dry to the touch.

6️⃣ 00:04:30 - Remove pan from oven and immediately invert onto a cooling rack or by placing a bottle in through the center. Let cool in pan 1½ hours. Tap the sides and and bottom and gently remove the cake from the pan.

I just put this cake in the oven. I usually use my grandmother's recipe but decided to try this one. Today is my mom's 82nd birthday. Her mom always made her an Angel food cakefor her birthday... now I make her one. Thanks for this recipe!

I made this today using the leftover egg whites we kept aside after making Christmas cake. We thought of making it a tradition going forward to make Angel Food Cake every year using your recipe 😍😍😍 it was so so flavorful, moist, soft and so light! This is definitely a fool proof recipe! You CAN NOT go wrong with this if you follow the exact steps 😍🥰❤️

I love this recipe!!! I have a variation of it to make a pineapple upside down cake also which is basically 1/2 of this recipe plus 1 beaten egg yolk folded in before sugar is added then add by folding in the dry ingredients. For the pan I use a large cast iron skillet in which you melt 1/2 stick of butter and dissolve in 1/4 cup of brown sugar as best as it will mix and dissolve(Hint; it won't all dissolve) then sit to the side and add your pineapple rings over the butter/sugar mixture, add in cherries and/or pecans or whatever else within reason that you like on top of pineapple upside down cake, then add in and gently smooth out the batter. Bake at 350 until skewer is clean and/or the cake springs back at you skewer is the better test. Flip over by holding a large platter to skillet opening.... then flip and let rest at least 5 minutes before removing the skillet. Yum!!😘😘😋😋
This makes THE BEST Pineapple upside down cake I have ever tasted and I get requests for it from people who know I make it!!! Needless to say, I never told many people before now, just close loved ones!!! So now you know you are a close loved one of mine!!!😘😘🥰🥰😍😍♥♥💖💖💝💝❤❤
