How to extract all frames from any video using VLC media player.mkv

Sometimes we need to use frames of any video. So for this purpose VLC media player can be used. In this video I will show you how to extract all frames from any video using VLC media player.

Some people facing problems with this so After reading all the comments I made this few steps we should do if this method does not work. (If it does not work after all these extra points let me know i will try my best to resolve your problem )
1. Try running VLC media player as Administrator
2. Always use HD or 480P videos if you want every single frame.
3. You may need to update the VLC Media player to latest version.
4. You can try destination folder with short path for example D:\frames
5. If possible use MP4 Video format.
6. To stop the capture frames next time. Please uncheck the "scene Filter"
7. to extract every frame from a dvd or video in either format, do this: Tools>Preferences>Video>All Settings> Advanced Settings>Video>scroll down and uncheck skip frames. Also, remember to change the recording ratio to 1 while in the Scene Video Filter itself.

If it is not working for you, check your path prefix and make sure that there is a backslash "\" at the end of it. This way it can concatenate the directory prefix and the filename prefix without error. This worked for me. Also, great video, thanks for putting this out there!

FYI- had a small issue, make sure the file that the images are extracted to is not 'read only'. Right click->Properties ->uncheck 'read only'. Thanks for the vid.

My computer produces a problem.

I have the number set at 2. I have played avis and mp4s but the name of each frame capture is "scene.jpg." As a result, the program keeps overwriting the previous photo, so at the end, I have only one image, that of the last frame.

I have followed instructions three times. I must have left something out that would automatically advance the number of each new frame. I have also tried two online converters to jpg, and the do advance the numbers, but with fewer captures.

The issue I’m having is the filename doesn’t change. So each frame extracted keeps overwriting the last frame extracted. I end up with one frame which is the last frame of the video. I’m on mac, any ideas?

I can extract an image but the one who is create is still replaced by the new one. There is no number incrementation. How do I proceed ?

Hello thanks for the video and it works real good though all the images stored are 608 x 256 pixels as default..is there a way i can capture HD images or larger files with absolute clarity when zoomed in...please guide what possible things to be done to achieve larger image size

I'm having a little bit of an issue. There's only one version of the video that I need (I need every single frame for an animation study to recreate the dance in the video), and so I have the ratio set to 1 and the quality as .jpeg but after playing for a few frames it freezes while the audio continues. So then the folder is filled with nothing but those frames, and I can't animate that

When I do this I need all frames so I type JPG instead of PNG and ratio as 1, but all images come out the same. They are all the first frame. What am I doing wrong?
