Fungi are more closely related to animals than they are to plants 🍄 On the west coast of North America, they form a symbiotic relationship with the douglas fir that connects the trees together and allows them to communicate and share nutrients with each other by passing sugars, hormones and signals through the fungal networks. The fungi get to keep some of the sugars in return. Mushrooms are crazy cool.
