How do I prove that I have four years of experience in construction? How do I verify to the State of California (CSLB) my 4 years of experience?

If you would like more information, fill out this form:

Super simple. You have someone you have been working for or working with sign for you.
Seriously, no joke, you prove to the state your 4 required years of experience by having someone sign/vouch for you. As long as you actually have 4 years of experience you will have no problem getting your California Contractors License.

When your ready to get your California Contractors License give us a call

Thanks a lot for the content. I got my computer science BS and master degree. Can it count toward 2 years or 3 years work experience? Thanks in advance.

I have 4 years experience as an electrical designer. Does this count or do I need 4 years experience as an electrician out in the field?

I started a landscape company 20 years ago without a license because they were small jobs, but I've since gotten to where I need a license due to getting larger jobs. I've been filing income taxes on all the work averaging 50-80k per year over the last 10 years. Will having income taxes be enough to show proof? I'm also wondering if my experience will qualify me for a C-12? Thanks in advance!

OK...What about the "Owner-Builder" experience? I have tons of that. I have been doing various construction and remodeling projects since I was a kid growing up working with my father. I have also done many, many various types of projects working on houses I have owned and helped out friends over the years.

I gained 2 years of experience with one company, and another two years with a different company. Do I need both employers to sign off?

I'm a "handyman" grew up working with my dad, brother and uncle, I've worked for some companies but mainly on my own. I own my own "handyman" business and want to get my general contractors license does my handyman experience count? I've done a lot of drywall patches, stucco patches, non structrual framing, small paint jobs, and can light installs and more.

Now I live in Nevada and know the laws almost mirror California due to reciprocity of licenses. But I’m 22 years old have down 2 years of welding school and worked full time for companies for a year now so three years in total of “officially welding”. Now before school and before working for a licensed company I have done welding on the side for family, friends prior. How can I prove I’ve had 4 years of work experience full time if I did those jobs on the side for family members?

Sorry super fresh to this, but what counts as experience? Is there list online somewhere? Shoveling mud? Electrician work? Thanks for the info!

I'm currently using the peerless institute study exam and study books to obtain my c33(painting and decorating) ... Here in California... I have 10 years experience in the last 10 years but for the last 4 years I've been working for a previous foreman of mine from a company I did work for...He is also a licensed paint contractor BUT he hasn't had workman's comp and it's been under the table... He doesn't want to sign off.. I can't go to that company because the owner could cause waves...he knows I've been working for "John smith" doing all his side work which is a full blow biz... but totally off the books for the most part . What do I do? I hope this isn't confusing

I have two years of experience in USA, and I have a plumbing and gas certificate in another country. Can I apply for a contractor certificate? Will my certificate compensate for the remaining two years of experience?

Ive been doing small landscape jobs on my own since i was 18 years old back in 2016 without a license, but would still report to taxes. I finally started my lawn care business in summer 2021 officially a LLC. Still doing some small landscape jobs on the side. Can i report my income from taxes from this as experience? I pretty much learned through experience and self taught. I did go to college and majored in landscaping but didnt finish.
