This video teaches you the basics of using Matplotlib's animation functionality in order to generate live updating charts and graphs within python. We will be later using this in conjunction with our stock charting tutorial series to make those stock price charts live updating.

What if your dataset becomes too large? and you only want to plot most recent data?

+sentdex is it possible in matplotlib to update data ONLY when new data comes without iPython shell? I know you can do this in ingeractive mode but can you do this without iPython shell?

I'm working on a project involving an accelerometer and PID control.  I was wondering if you could send me some information or make a video on real time graphing of serial data.  I'm a physics major so not really an expert programmer.  But, the problem I'm dealing with is kinda unique.  Basically I'm graphing accelerometer data form an Arduino Uno using an ADXL345 Breakout Triple Axis Accelerometer.  I have a working code for transferring serial data to a text file but I'm having a difficult time using matplotlib to graph my serial data in real time.

I have everything, but the problem is that your previous code crashes my pycharm. I have matplotlib in library already and can run example code from their site perfectly, but yours code causes system to run a code for a while and later it reports a crash. Can you help me with that?
