I watched this with my eyes closed to get unbiased reactions and then checked which was which. The one that made me think "That's nice, that'd be sweet for a less aggressive track" was the SLO, and the one that made me think "Holy shit, it's war!" was the BE-OD

I really do think you do some of the best review videos on YT. No blabbering about this and that. Just how the gear sounds. Different adjustments and what matters. Another great video. Thank you. I like both pedals. They each have there own unique tone. I would use both. It just matters where each would be the best fit for the tone I was wanting.

Thank you for the review GB. The Soldano SLO sounds more amp-like which would serve my sound more.

Somebody mentioned Friedman for rhythm and Soldano for lead... That sounds pretty much what I got on my side... I had both and the way I used Friedman was to turn the internal gain trim pot to zero (you still have a tons of gain on tap) and blast the volume, with up to 50% on the gain pot (you really don't need more even for soloing) - this is where those fizzy mid frequencies become somewhat tolerable. Of course, it depends on the rest of the setup as well - Les Paul here with BK Black Dog in the bridge and SD '59 in the neck, 2x12' Celestion Vintage pushed by modded Egnater Rebel 20 MkI. In this "surrounding" Soldano does sound more tamed and manageable, while Friedman, in my opinion, does require perhaps a "specific thing" in order to be close to the amp. Sure, same goes for Soldano but as someone said here, Soldano is more "user friendly" and less "finicky", it blends better into various surroundings and setups. That is true.

Disclaimer: both pedals were loaned, I never had any but I am thinking on getting the Friedman as I recently bought the Friedman Smallbox and it works great.

Excellent demo, proper sound, very good presentation! My utmost respect!

I have a BE-OD Pedal and love it. Period. However, the Soldano offers a different flavor that's neither "better/worse". it all depends on what you're in the mood for at the time. Why limit yourself? :)

Great video mate. Know what we want to hear is an art in itself. Thanks. New Zealand

I love Soldano amps, but the Friedman sounded much richer and fuller in this comparison. The Soldano sounded more focused in the higher frequencies. However, this might be just in the pedal versions. When comparing the Synergy preamps for these two, you can dial each in a little more with the added options they give you.

This video makes me realize the BE-OD is have is just fine and definitely don’t need the Soldano. Still may have to get one at some point for a different flavor.

Having watched a few vids on these pedals, I'm thinking the BE-OD works best with a EL34 power section and the SLO with a 6L6 power section.

That comparison at 2:55 was cool... the SLO definitely kicked balls on that one. Same thing at 4:55.

Sorry for the stupid question but this is a disto or a overdrive??

Sounds to me like either would do the trick, so similar!

I've been comparing these two on the high gain setting with the bogner Burnley v2 (demo on this same channel). The friedman sounds too compressed and fizzy. The soldano is more midrangey and aggressive, but open. And the bogner sounds a bit rounder and fuller since it has that transformer.

I am looking for a replacement for my mxr prime distortion for a medium to high gain sound, to be boosted with a tubescreamer. Any other suggestions than these 3 that I should look into?

SLO all the way. More amp like with a bit more warmth and sag. Just sayin
