As an Ophthalmologist I would say that if you choose any medical specialty because it says something to who you area as a person you will be happy. Of course monetary compensation is an important factor and it seems that Ophthalmology while still very good is perhaps lagging comapred to some other medical-surgical specialties such as ORL.. however the ability to restore vision in impaired patients is truly rewarding. And all specialties shoudl have their unique meaningful moments and these uniqueness is ultimately what you must pursue ;)

Kinda weird that there's nothing on neurosurgery. Would've expected it to be on some of those lists like burnout or compensation

I have a question about the Physician Compensation. Is compensation and salary different? I’m guessing that salary is the income that’s earned on paychecks while compensation is income along with other benefits like insurance & 401k???
