Wow, Veruca is super lucky. All the other kids had to listen to their own diss track. She was already down the garbage chute😂

Veruca Salt: *about to die from being incinerated*

Oompa Loompas: 💃💃💃

I like how the dad is literally held back by his own standards. He could’ve jumped the gate, but had to wait for the key, because that’s what he’s “supposed” to do and he’s a pushover.

I’ve always loved this song. I love the fact it’s based on the psychedelic era of music, as each song is based on a different musical era. It’s so nostalgic to me, because I watched Charlie and the chocolate factory a lot when I was younger.

The whole factory was a trap since the beginning. Because Augustus, Violet, Veruca and Mike couldn't resist their own temptations. Only Charlie was the worthy one.

"A steak that no one else could chew"

Violet Beauregarde : "I'm about to end this man's whole career"

This scene really illustrates how great this movie’s set design is. The light blue and white floor contrasted with the ominous hole in the ground is awesome, and the weird-looking pipes and chutes just add to the magical feel of it all.

If you think about it, the 4 rotten children's fates follow old expressions:

Augustus: "If you eat too much of something, you'll turn into it." He ate so much chocolate he fell in the river when he didn't listen to Wonka. After being sent up the pipe, the oompa loompas seemed to have turned him into chocolate.

Violet: "Pride cometh before the fall." Violet and her mother were so arrogant that Wonka's warnings didn't faze them. Violet ended up being turned into a blueberry that made her tower above everyone, making her lonely at the top. Afterwards, they learned a huge lesson. Violet's mom learned that her daughter's well being is more important than winning all the time and Violet learned that winning isn't everything.

Veruca: "Spoiled rotten." Everyone will agree that Veruca was badly spoiled. Once she got covered in trash, her outer appearance reflected her personality: disgusting. Her father learned that being a pushover was getting him nowhere and that his daughter needed to learn the importance of inner beauty.

Mike: "You can educate a fool, but you cannot make him think." Mike might have been educated, but he didn't think about the repercussions of his actions. Therefore, when he sent himself through TV, he was taunted by the oompa loompas for being foolish. He was stretched out to try to correct his size, but his size after being sent to TV reflected how small minded he really was.

Is anybody even gonna question the fact that the oompa loompas have a picture of Veruca’s mother? no? just me?

Honestly without the Oompa Loompa this would just straight up be a horror movie-

_Don't let this song die._

Fun fact: Those were actual squirrels. Not cgi. Burton wanted the movie to look as real as possible.

I love how this version was as dark as the book

I love how Wonka waits until after Veruca is thrown down the garbage chute to "find" the right key for the gate. It shows the kind of meticulous game he's playing, weeding out the naughty kids. And the way he ominously opens the gate to let Mr. Salt go in after her is just brilliant acting on Depp's part.

1:22 that look he gives Mr Salt is one of pure malice. I love it but it's also terrifying. Makes me believe the theory that he planned all of this to give the kids and their parents comeuppance

I love how Wonka was being an asshole pretending to be unable to find the key in order for the squirrels to be able to throw Veruca down the chute 😂😂😂😂

This is the only song that actually blames one of the parents for their behavior.

Wonder how long they were holding onto that painting of her mum though...

The part at 2:54 is so satisfying. This was seriously well written. I think it’s overlooked tbh

something i dont see enough is people talking how truly impressive this whole section of the factory is. not just cuz of the scenery or the music, but cuz of the squirrels. they used and trained _REAL SQUIRRELS_ for this scene. how awesome is that
