Veruca may be a brat and all but at the end of the day the actress did a really good job portraying Veruca. What's funny is that in real life she is such a sweetheart according to her co stars.

This is the best part of the movie. It is a brilliant song, a true "evil villain origin story" kind of quality. And her performance is diamond.

I love how her father doesn't care when he thinks Veruca is dead, but when he realizes she might still be alive he quickly rushes off to get her xD

Love how the Oompa (when Veruca takes the egg) is thinking "please put that egg down and put it down softly". And he looks worried about what she's going to do until she puts it down.
And when Veruca stands in front of her dad talking to Wonka, I love his bored reaction on his face. He has no intention of feeding into her. Love it!

Fun Fact: This segment was filmed on Julie Dawn Cole's 13th birthday. After she fell down the trapdoor, she landed into a hall below the set to discover a birthday cake with candles on it, with the cast and crew entering moments later to surprise her with a party. Her birthday gifts were three film props: one of the golden eggs, a gobstopper, and Veruca's golden ticket.

A few years ago, I went to a theatrical screening of Willy Wonka. When the little girl got to her last line and she got what was coming to her, the audience in the theater actually got up from their seats and cheered when she went down the garbage shoot.

I just love when Veruca throws the wrapping over Wonka, that none of it actually touches him.
I have to wonder if they planned for that, or it was just a cool coincidence that they managed to capture on film.
