I was on Xanax over 20 years at a low dose and up to 8mg over the last 5 years. I started having problems when I would hit the tolerance level at each dose. I would go to my PCP and tell them I needed bodywide physical therapy and she looked at me like I was crazy. She had no idea what was causing my issues. The doctor that was prescribing it to me dropped me as a patient and I had to taper my last script myself and then stopped it completely in July 2022. I'm now in month 7 of recovery. I'm mostly having physical symptoms and attribute an improved mental state to eating a carnivore diet. I'm just baffled at how severe this problem is and how slow it takes to spread the word. I think Benzo's should have a new strict level of control for doctors that prescribe it.

The worst drug in the history of the human race. Only marginally helpful at best, but brutal beyond all imagination in most situations. Inter-dose is horrible for people as they usually increase their dosage and make things worse. Common symptoms for most people- Nerve shots, bolts of electricity in the arms, elbows etc. headaches, panic, anxiety, muscle twitches, and aches that never seem to stop, visual issues, disorientation, de-realization. Doctors are just street-level drug pushers for the pharmisutical companies. It's disgusting what they are willing to do to patients. There is no hippocratic oath... what a joke. The only oath doctors take is to Big Pharma and lining their pockets.

I am in protracted withdrawal from 1.5mg Xanax, taken for 24 years, and taken off CT by a rehab facility. Also from 2 hydrocodone for 12 years. It is now 3.5 years (11-7-2019 detox day) since all this took place and I am still in protracted withdrawal. By far my worst symptom is abdominal pain. I was actually much better when I was first taken off, but then totally bottomed out in 12.2019 and ended up I believe having some sort of a nervous breakdown and spending 4 months in another rehab facility. There simply was no where else to go, and at this point my family turned me out of their lives, as it all was too disturbing for them. I totally agree with the writer below. Cannot believe how severe this problem is and how slow it takes to spread the word. These drugs are way too dangerous and have stolen 4 years of my life so far. What is coming? So few professionals really understand the whole picture.

DO NOT COLD TURKEY! I was only on benzos for about 9 months but once I learned about the dangers of it, I had the bright idea of stopping immediately. Biggest mistake of my life. It’s been 3 years and I’m about 90% back to normal but it’s been absolute hell. Please stay away from these drugs and if you’re already on it, taper taper taper!!!!

Klonopin 9yrs and they just cut me off. I was already having interdose withdrawal for 5yrs. I don't think anyone had a clue. I was going to public mental health and they would have a new Dr or nurse practitioner every 3 to 6 months. When I found out that I had a blood disorder that was causing my rapid heartbeat.., not anxiety, they said not to take the Klonopin anymore. The next visit they gave me the boot because I wasn't taking meds. 😳 I made it 6 months till the bottom fell out. It's been 3 years and I'm still suffering.

High blood pressure is also part of protracted withdrawals. One out of every 5 people suffer this.

I'm getting interdose withdrawal and have been for several months.. the thing is I don't experience any cravings for the drug I am not all that comfortable except I am tents and my ears are however the biggest problem is that I cannot barely sync concentrate or .. I have realized at that point that if it gets to where if I don't take my medicine soon I won't be Abel because I can't concentrate well enough to keep track of what I'm doing. Ordinarily at that time of night I am reading and relaxing and don't feel like getting up so I put it off until I get like that and I know if I don't go take care of that I won't be able to

Klonopin 2mg for 10 years. I tapered for 4 months using liquid Valium once I was at 1mg. I had no trouble going from 2mg to 1 mg. Started with 20mls of liquid Valium in September. Benzo free for 6 weeks but I am having issues. Muscle pain and spasms. GI upset. Ringing in my ears. Panic attacks when I fall asleep. Dizziness. Hot flashes. I went through a week of constant monoclonal jerks at the end of the taper. The last weeks of the taper were the worst . I can’t find a health care provider who will listen to me. I tried taking 4mg of liquid Valium to see if it would stop the severe muscle spasms but it doesn’t work. My doctor gave me flexeril today. It helps. I am also taking gabapentin 600 mg 3 times a day. Visteral 50mg TID. Seroquil 25mg q hs. I am sleeping ok and don’t have to take it every night now. I can tell I’m healing but it’s been really rough. I have a BSN and was an emergency room nurse for 20 years. A psyc patient attacked me and that’s when I was prescribed benzos. I never imagined what a nightmare weaning off them would be. I think most health care providers don’t understand how bad prescribing these medications are. I didn’t. Thank you for your videos. Wish I could find a doctor like u. ❤

When you cannot get the dose raised, some folks resort to increasing the strength through the use of increasingly large amounts of alcohol but not so much that they cannot function. Without taking some days off from the meds, like on the weekends, this will eventually stop working. Still, some people can go indefinitely, it seems, without loss of efficacy at only their prescribed doses.
