Today we’re going to talk about how to measure the pH of your blood. Are you too acid or too alkaline? It’s possible to try to figure this out by looking at your symptoms. There is also a difficult test that can be performed. However, your bicarbonates are another indicator that you can look at to get a rough idea of what your pH is.

Bicarbonates are alkaline substances that help to buffer the pH and keep it at a certain level. You can measure bicarbonates by getting a basic metabolic panel or a comprehensive metabolic panel.

Conditions that could cause high bicarbonates:
• Severe prolonged vomiting or diarrhea
• COPD
• Cushing’s syndrome

High bicarbonates are an indication that your body may be too alkaline, and you need to acidify it. You can do this by taking apple cider vinegar or betaine hydrochloride, as well as correcting the root cause.

Conditions that could cause low bicarbonates:
• Addison’s disease
• Chronic diarrhea
• Diabetic ketoacidosis
• Kidney disease
• Aspirin overdose

But how do we test it? Are those tests that we ask our physicians to run? Maybe I'm missing something...🤔

Yes, but how do we measure it? You showed the color charts, which I'm familiar with from testing my urine, but you don't tell what we're supposed to be looking for. Is this a urine test? Or - which you admit is very difficult - blood? You're usually so thorough and clear; this is just confusing.

And yet another video from Dr Berg with weirdly perfect timing 🤔

I get your video but imho you should also have made it clear that unless you are sick (diabetes is an example) the pH of your blood is maintained in a precise range, it's not something that in normal conditions you can or you need to control.

pH is very crucial for earth, water, and blood.
This is super crucial, and why many are drinking the higher pH purified waters now. Thanks for sharing.

My doctor advised me to measure pH of both urine and saliva to get a "true" pH, but it turned out to be hard in practice as I don't trust litmus paper and would like an expensive pH meter that can measure pH without having to drown the device in a sample.

My urine is always around 8.0. I get tested every month and ph is one of the things they test.

Hi Dr Berg. Thank you so much for pointing me to this video. You are a Godsend. I just want to verify my understanding in this video: when you mention the kidneys release acid, you meant the kidneys get rid of acidity by making the the body more alkaline, right? And if I understand correctly, the lungs by getting rid of CO2 help the body to be less alkaline, increase acidity. So the lungs and the kidneys do the opposites? Also, do the PH of saliva, urine, and blood pretty much close to one another or is there a chance when one is too alkaline while the other is too acidic?

Can taking sodium bicarbonate pills or drinking lemon juice raise the alkalinity in the blood? I also keep reading diet cannot change blood ph. I’m only reading diet, lemon juice, or sodium bicarbonate pills can only raise urine ph. Can you make a video on this specifically?

"pancreases makes the CO2 to neutralize the stomach acid"
if follow this rule than Carbonated water neutralises the acid in stomach. I drink 1.5 L Carbonated water everyday.

So.. the old practice of drinking sodium bicarb in water after vomiting does have this kind of action... :)

I’ve heard that cancer cannot live in an alkaline environment. What do you think?
