Reading fire: Man winched off a burning building

This is the moment a man is winched off a burning building in #Reading on Thursday.

Footage of the incident shows thick black smoke billowing from a tower which appears to be under construction and is near the town’s train station.

It is unknown whether anyone remains on the site or whether there has been any injuries following the fire which it is believed broke out at around 11.38am.

A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “We received reports of a fire near Napier Road in Reading.

“A number of our crews are currently on the scene. While emergency services work, we ask that people avoid the area where possible and close windows and doors if you live or work nearby.”
