Still blows my mind that we did this with less computing power than a modern phone.

fun fact
when neil armstrong was thinking of what his first words would be on the moon surface during the Apollo 11 landing, command module pilot Michael collins jokingly suggested:
"if you had any balls, you'd say "oh my god, what is that thing!" then scream and cut your mic."

Watching live 50 years ago as an 8 year old girl, I was filled with wonder and amazement. Today, as a 58 yer old grandma, I cried.

50 years! Ah-mazing! I remember well, watching live. Then going to my backyard and looking in amazement at the moon, knowing men were walking on that bright moon! Great moment to know you watched history in the making! I wasn't a teenager yet, but was still in awe of what I was seeing. I have the NYT newspaper showing all the photos from the moon landing, and still cherish it.

50 year later and it still makes me cry. So powerful. On so many levels. Historical, philosophical, technological, spiritual. All the life on Earth that looked at it for millions of years... and we sent people there.

It just makes me cry of pride when I watch or hear this. Not for my nation. But for the world. One world held in suspension at this one goal. Godspeed Artemis, Godspeed.
