'One small step for man': Moment of Neil Armstrong's famous line

What did Neil Armstrong really say when he took his first step on the moon?

Millions on Earth who listened to him on TV or radio heard this :

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

But after returning from space, Armstrong said that wasn't what he had planned to say. He said there was a lost word in his famous one-liner from the moon: "That's one small step for 'a' man." It's just that people just didn't hear it."

RIP Neil Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012), aged 82
And
RIP Michael Collins (October 31, 1930 – April 28, 2021), aged 90
You both will be remembered as legends.

Even if the recording sounds a bit distorted, that quote sounded so epic.

My grandfather actually met Neil Armstrong in person at one time and even shook his hand.

One of Humanity's greatest achievements. To take a man from Earth, and have him set foot on something that isn't Earth. Beautiful.

When I was a boy, my mother would take me to any and every movie about the Moon or Apollo 11. Afterwards, she would tell me, in hushed tones, the moment she sat as a young girl with my sister and my grandmother - and they silently watched a man step on the moon.

It must have felt really strong to be the first human walking on the moon! This is one of the greatest feats mankind have done to date.

When I was eight, I understood it as "One giant step for a man, one small step for mankind" as that it was just another step in humanity, but he was honored as he was the person to do it.

I remember watching the recording In Saigon, the recording had been flown In from Hawaii, me and the boys were so happy, we had a "little" party after. That was one of the only good things I witnessed during that war. We were so drunk we probably forgot we were even In nam.

If we listen closely we can hear him say "For a man" which according to Neil that's what he said. One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.
