Sony A7IV Long Term Review - By a Panasonic Fanboy (vs Lumix S5)

A 6 month review of my current camera coming from the Lumix S5 and the GH5! Both the S5 and the A7IV are very great cameras but there are a few key differences that separate them.

Just to note the specs for both cameras are very similar but the key points/differences are, both are cropped at 4k 60, 33mp photos on the Sony vs 24mp and the lumix S5 can shoot 180fps at 1080 where as the A7iv can only shoot 120fps at 1080.

I am a Sony fanboy and have like 15 lenses. But if Lumix can do PDAF, I will sell all Sony gear and switch. Panasonic's color is just better without doing any work.

I just wish that the Panasonic S5 had better Auto focus and that it had unlimited recording in 4K 10 bit like the Sony A74 does

Catalyst browse is pretty Hit-or-miss in my experience. Some shots look mind-blowing good, in other shots look like crap. So not a feature I would rely on.

Nice and honest review, man. I prefer coolers on Panasonic, whether I have Sony a7IV. I'm a beginner and I'd love to learn how to change them on post.

Did you find much of a difference in the performance of the AF for stills between the two cameras, or is it specifically the video AF? Thanks.

I agree with everything you said. If it was photo only in a studio environment then I'd go with the S5. The Sigma 16-28 l mount is glued to my S5. The A7Iv is much better than the A7iii. The value of an S5 is amazing for the price/performance

Agree that S-cinetone is heavily overrated, CineD2 looks much nicer but V-log triumphs anything that both cameras have

bout the lenses you are wrong...you buy for ZS5 the 18-28 and 28-70 sigma that cost like 1600 usd and 1600 for the body and you dont need anything else for simple stufff....for sony this setup costs like 1500 usd more :)
