I love late reviews because when someone like me who is thinking of getting this camera comes along. it's much easier to find a review on it

Just got one with a Tamron 35-150 as an all-around lens. You just restored my faith in my own judgment. Thanks for the great video!

Fellow A7IV user here for about the same length of time. The camera just simply works and works very well at many things. I think the LCD screen could be improved and that’s about it for my negatives.

Thanks for the great review! Im upgrading from the A7r iii to the IV. Mine will be here tomorrow! I debated between the A7S iii which is excellent for video but i had to go with the IV for its excellent hybrid ability and for the black friday price you can't beat it.

When I started with Sony, I did it with the A mount cameras in 2010 I think, and those were cameras that I still love to this date if I have to be very honest.
The ergonomics, the grip was absolutely stellar....but the BEST DETAIL they had, was the screen, not the resolution or brightness, but the way it articulates its movement. On the 77 and 99 models to be precise.
Which is basically the one on the a7rV. I just love the decided to come back to that. It is hands down the best way to have a screen.

Great update Chris. I really liked my A7RIV too. I moved to the A7RV which I find is another step up for me for landscape and wildlife.

Thank you. At the end of last year when I upgraded my landscape / portrait to the A7RV (from A7RIV) I also sold both my A7IV and A7C and got the smaller A7CII which has that very nice 33 Mpixel sensor and updated AF system. I don’t need a two card solution like you which is why I considered switching. If I need two card slots I use the A7RV or A1 now. Could easily recommend the A7IV to most people all though at this point some other nice competitive bodies have come out. Take care.

FWIW, I've been using dual ProGrade Digital 256GB UHS-II SDXC (250MB/s read) memory cards in a a7RIV for cheer competitions. ~150 shots in 2 minutes 20 second routines. The camera is buffering but never running out of shots, even when I shoot RAW for difficult lighting. The next team comes quickly and the camera is back to zero.

I learned using my dad's old D750 for like 6 years through highschool and college, and lots of those images still hold up and are some of my favorites I've ever shot. I've been shooting on the a7iv for a couple years now and the biggest upgrade over DSLR is easily the autofocus and physical size. I was actually a bit shocked at how similar the raw images looked the first time I imported Sony raws!

Coming from Fuji’s the a7iv and fx3 have been a beast. The a7iv tracking with back button focus has been mind blowing. Makes wedding and event shooting so much easier.

And man, that studio looks dope! Cheers brother!

Great video Chris. I actually watched your videos on it when I switched 2 years ago from Fuji, based on my pal Steve’s recommendation. It’s an incredible camera, and I couldn’t be happier with the 50mm 1.2 GM, 35mm 1.4 GM, and 24mm 1.4 GM. Away from weddings I’m using my Leica Q3, which is my fave camera ever, and I’m now integrating that into weddings too.

I switched from the nikon D850 which was a great camera. I only switched to Sony because Nikon were nowhere near in the mirrorless at the time. I couldn't be happier with the switch.

I'm thinking of getting this camera, and your review is one from someone who use the camera everyday and depends on it to do your job. Thanks!

I just got it recently. It's a near perfect camera! I agree with you about the shutter being too loud. I recently took it to photograph some bands and a gig. I felt like everyone was rolling their eyes at me thinking ugh, here's the photographer going off. So I turned it silent haha

Hi Chris. Do you ever feel/hear the sensor moving around inside the A7IV? I just got mine (finally!) and realized when powered off, and no lens attached, when I tilt it to the left 90° I hear the sensor hitting the side of the camera. Doesn't happen when turned on. It's my understanding this is normal IBIS behavior. The feeling of movement didn't concern me as much as the audible sound that the sensor is constantly hitting the body when gently tilting. Anyway. Was just curious if this is normal for other A7IV users.

The only negatives are the crop in 4K/60 and how slow the readout is on the sensor. The electronic shutter is pretty much unusable in most situations.

Bought my A7iv last year and I am still happy with it. There were a few times where I wanted to upgrade but then realized that it wasn’t worth spending the extra money especially since photography is just a hobby and not a job. It’s probably going to be like how I treat my phone. Buy the newest one AT LEAST every 5 years but if it ain’t broke why fix it so I could see myself using this camera for a long long time unless something game changing is justifying me paying whatever crazy prices come out years from now 😂
