Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) now Secure Custom Fields (SCF)

WordPress security team has announced a fork of Advanced Custom Fields and is calling it Secure Custom Fields. If you didn't upgrade to the latest version of ACF directly from the ACF team, your version might have been updated to SCF.

it's a scandal. first wordpress bans the accounts of wp engine. they no longer have access to the repo and can no longer upload updates. then wp comes along and says they don't update so we take the plugin away....

It's theft. They were locked out of the repository and couldn't patch their plugin. The security issue was minor.

This is not fork. This is a theft in real time by Matt!!. They stollen ACF, renamed plugin as SCF, but in menu it appear as ACF I absolutelly does not agree with this solution done by Automatic. Just use craftcms or Statamic or literally any CMS from the last decade and a half and you’ll just have a better time.

Just the name alone "Secure CF" makes me distrust everything Matt is doing, ooh you found a security bug, is he now going to take over thousands of other plugins? BTW there are actually abandoned plugins that could benefit being taken over, but that would help the community, instead of feeding Matt's tantrum.

Since recently WP decided to introduce their core CF/CPT, I think there is a high chance that now this plugin will be ruined intentionally, to make people stop using it and switch to core option. In the same way that they push people to switch to FSE by adding essential updates only to FSE, but not to Classic themes. I think your video about Drupal will become more and more popular :)
