Ali M - Greetings and salutations Mr. C. Many of us got excited when we heard that another Spawn movie was coming from the creator himself Todd McFarlane, but then nothing has happened in ages. Read today that the money people are holding it up because they’re not getting on board with his vision. Don’t you think they should just trust the creator and get on board. Why do they have to try to exert control over the man’s character and property? Thank you and bring on the filthy!

Todd has always been difficult. He needs to finance the movie himself. Heck he paid $2 milli for a baseball for crying out loud

I’m a HUGE Spawn fan (issue 300 soon !) rather have it get delayed and made right instead of being a subpar movie again.. one day people will realize how much potential this property has ! I agree Todd should get an experienced director tho ..

I am going to say this. Todd stated early on what his vision was. When approaching the money he explained his vision. Upon that explanation the money agreed to do the movie. They knew what they were agreeing to.
I wonder if they changed their tune after Jamie Fox was announced and figure he should get more screen time, I bet even have Spawn use his powers to temporarily "fix his face" so you see Jamie Fox or if they had issue from the beginning.
What Tidd should do is developed two visions. The first vision where he has his low budget horror film and a second one where it his a big budget movie and he can let the money people decide which one is the better risk.

If you watch any interview of him over the last few years, talking about his vision of the film, he always says the same things about 'DARK, R RATED, DARK, HARD R horror picture where spawn is barely even in it. He's only a minor thing in the background!". I'm pretty sure if people are going to give him millions to make it, they're probably thinking "Spawns barley even in this Spawn movie that WE are paying for??"

McFarlane really needs to swallow his pride. The investors have a right to be concerned. McFarlane hasn’t even directed a commercial and yet he’s directing a movie?

If what Tod is saying is true, that this movie is only capped at 20mil, then why not find an independent director to make an R rated hero movie, which I think is way overdue. He’s the creator so he’s the one who should be the first to speak then the big wigs 🦹‍♂️👍🏻🤟🏼

Todd Macfarlane is never gonna get this movie made as long as he keeps protesting the idea of people other than himself writing and directing it, he seems like he’s saying ”I want full control over this movie or else it’s not gonna happen” and the studios go “Fine, your loss because now the movie isn’t gonna get made” If he wants this movie to see the light of day he needs to be willing to accept that he’s not gonna have full control over it

The comic book is about to hit number 300 and the buzz is warm at best

I think the hold up is that if you listen to the interviews he’s done, he doesn’t want spawn to be in the movie that much, he wants it to be a whole lot of anticipation of the character to show up and spawn doesn’t show up until the end, which seems like it would suck.

Imagine guillermo del toro being assistant director. I love to see his perspective over the dark and color aesthetic of the cinematography and his spin on some demon and creature design. I think that would be pretty cool

Spawn's a great comic. Props to McFarland for his innovation over the years; with this character, his work on Spider-Man, and other properties. But I think it's clear, as with Stephen King, some people are better writing and creating characters, then they are turning those characters into movies.

... please Todd, get out of your own way here. Give the fans what they want.
