How F1 Drivers Brake SO LATE

Formula 1 drivers are INCREDIBLE at braking, and most normal drivers are not. That’s because it’s simply the MOST IMPORTANT and MOST DIFFICULT part of driving a fast car quickly. It is the difference between the greats and the not-so-greats.

But how are they actually generating MORE grip and higher cornering speeds, using the brake pedal alone? And why, if you’ve been to a racing experience, are they teaching you the WRONG technique? Let me explain.

Rally drivers, hold my peddle, going in sideways on three wheels, usually up the right way

You should have mentioned how the mechanical grip changes as well throughout the corner

I went through a driver training course at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma and being a big rig driver and then attempting to literally re-learn how to brake the high performance car I was driving literally at the last second at the exact point just before the apex of the turn with just enough pressure to get the brakes hot enough to grab just the right amount without going into brake fade was soooo intense! Remember you are coming to huge turn doing at times in the car I was driving from anywhere in the 110-120 mph to the 40 mph area in not more than 25 - 50 yards I would call that pretty intense!

All in all the best drivers training course I have ever attended!

I definitely need to get back to the track soon really miss getting spanked by all the Porsche 911 GT3's turbos out there walking right around my Mustang GT like it was standing still. LOL..

It is definitely the driver that makes the difference though by the end of the course I was keeping their taillights within a few seconds / minutes 😅😂..

Keep the American racing past time going guys attend all the races all the time!

& also changing the rear differential pressures, that was why Seb went off in the Ferrari @ German gp as it began to rain, pushed him into massive understeer.

I just wanted someone (not F1) drive an older F1 car. He said the brake pedal was like pushing a brick. It didn’t move. At full strength the driver pushed it 77%. The instructor to that guy, that is what you need to make the corners.

That's how the bus drivers in here break. They fucking think they're outbreaking the other public transportation vehicles

The rears don't have less grip when breaking because of the aero ir because if them having to do the acceleration work but because of the shift kn balance when braking, as it gets pushed forwards, makkmg the rear of the car lighter. The way it's portrayed in this short it's portrayed wrong.

F1 cars are the hardest to calculate physics and drive on racing games. As such, I often struggled driving them on games. I do remember a Gran Turismo I played one time that had F1 cars. I discovered that if you were sitting almost perfectly still, but not quite still and turned the wheel, the car would spin in place. This glitch could also happen randomly at low speeds, causing your race to become a Bayblade battle in hairpins

The first thing to know when watching an F1 car do a lap would be to throw common physics over board.

Remember that when you're braking, momentum is in your favor on braking

Are the brakes of these cars as sensitive as passenger cars or are they very hard ?

How F1 drivers brake so late ?
No fear my friend

I've heard people are more shocked by the deceleration than acceleration when they go for passenger rides in formula cars.

The fun thing is, any road driver that would suddenly have F1 brakes on their car would only brake with maybe 5% power and think the brakes have just given up, prey God and wait for the car to crash in the corner
