We live in a world filled with suffering, where attempts to help have been split into largely separate scientific and spiritual communities. As a spiritually engaged neuroscientist I hope to communicate how these seemingly separate world views can be reconciled. I produce weekly videos on topics at the intersection of neuroscience and wellbeing, including consciousness, meditation and psychedelic science.

Just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos. A couple years ago I started to get into meditation and Eastern philosophy, and then psychedelics, and they really changed my perspective on a lot of things. And then I came across some of the recent work being done around predictive coding, the FEP & active inference, and psychedelic/contemplative neuroscience. It took a while for me to really connect the dots in any substantive way but eventually I realized the potential implications. I was disappointed when I couldn't find someone in neuroscience who saw all the angles, and then one day you just popped up on my Twitter feed.

Keep up the good work! I feel it may be a while before this stuff really catches on, considering it's still very niche, but at least from my perspective it seems more people are starting to pay attention. It may just turn out that a sharp increase in suffering is exactly what humanity needed to really come to their senses. The next couple decades are going to be an interesting time.

What do you think of Bernardo Kastrups nondual understanding of how consciousness relates to brains?

"Mind is a tool invented by the universe to see itself; but it can never see all of itself, for much the same reason that you can't see your own back (without mirrors)."

If you stare straight ahead in a totally darkened room you can see your soul at the center of your field of vision. It's extremely small, but it's always exactly in the center of your field of vision. It glows slightly.
