If you DONT need it, yes, you will get feelings. If you DO need it, you will be normal. Ive seen this with my friends, one time my friend didn't have his meds for one day and i couldn't even talk to him

I'm 38 and have been on many different meds since I was in the 1st grade for ADD and ADHD. I've been taking an amphetamine since highschool and have never been high from it. But I've also never used it to get high.

I thought I was high the first time I took mine. Because I didn’t have racing thoughts. I could sit down and enjoy the feeling of relaxing. I wasn’t as anxious. And I could listen to music. If that’s “high” then being normal is always being “high”

A few things:

As a nurse, yes. The dose makes the poison.
As a psych nurse: much stigma. It took my fiance 10 years to accept adhd medication. He was on ritalin, it made him a zombie, and instead of fixing the dose or changing the med, his mom just took him off of it. So he suffered, just in a different way.

Jokes on him because now hes on Concerta 😂

Thirdly: i have POTENTIALLY autism, MDD, CPTSD and GAD, along with Fibromyalgia, me/cfs and POTENTIALLY POTS (these are newer diagnoses currently being explored for me) and the goal is not for curative treatment, but finding a combination that works best for you so you can function.

I thought this before but its even more true to me now, that homeopathy and medicine have long been at war with one another and it should not be like that. They need to be used in tandem, like salsa partners. ❤

There are also non-stimulant medications like Clonidine that help many people.

I reacted horrendously to stimulant medication, and some people with ADHD will. Your reaction to stimulants is not a litmus test to determine if you “really” have ADHD.

No, never. I never felt high, but grounded. I took my meds for the first time, and i felt like the me everyone else always claimed they were. I could engage with my world without feeling like i was lost in a fog.

It feels uncomfortable to take too much and unnoticeable to take too little. I think the reason caffeine is not a party drug where people are taking 6-12 cups of coffee in an evening to have a good time is the same reason ADHD drugs don’t get you high if you have ADHD.
