Smart Bench Vise Review + Shop Update

This week I am trying out this portable vise from Sjöbergs which is a really nice add-on to my workshop since I don't have a vise. There's only one downside to the vice and that is that I have to attach it to the edge of the workbench because I don't have c-clamps that reach all the way to the side of the vise where it is supposed to be attached. Other than that, this is a really good vise for a small amount of money.

The following links are affiliate links and they help me run the channel. The price is the same but I get a small cut of every purchase.

Am part Swedish American Style... My great great grandfather opened a Furniture and Hardware store in the Territory of Minnesota. I am in my 5th decade, finally, I am venturing on doing some wood projects for my home.

Hej buddy,
Recommend you have holes in your bench for holdfasts that will allow you to hold it down whereever you want on the bench depending on the hole placement of course.

Nice looking vice and your workshop is looking Great 👍 Someone else that takes 'indestructible ' as a challenge 😁

I bought one years ago, didn't like it. So, I'm going to add it to my new workbench.

The best use of this project is to take it with you to jobs where there is no shop, no workbench. In my case, that is boat work. There is never a satisfactory work surface on a boat.

With my twisted sense of humor, I had to laugh when you said “It fits in the box it comes in”! Ha! Great review though! Also thought it was funny to find out I’ve been mispronouncing that brand name for years! But since I can’t seem to say it correctly, I’ll just stick with my hideous mispronunciation! Thanks!

I just saw this on Adam Savages discord, someone saying they had one. I was wondering how it stands up to planeing, as I don't have a dedicated bench, so I have various work surfaces I can use (a desk, and a fixed worktop which I don't wish to bolt a vice to). Seeing you actually using it with a plane shows me that it IS possible, and it works.
I'm likely going to pick one up now :) Thanks (P.S. I subscribed!).

Oh god have I pronounced „Sjöbergs“ wrong!😅

Apparently you can install the Smart bench straight into your current table making it flush with the table. Have you tried it? Are you still using this smart vise? :)

Had to rewind a few times to grasp that pronunciation
