Socialism vs Capitalism

As far as I know (and I could be wrong here, so please correct me if so) especially health care and education are core problems in the US, with the health system being about three times as expensive as in similar countries, insurance (if you can afford one) often covering bills either not at all or only after a long and vigorous process, and students regularly graduating with six figures debt, because education is not provided for free by the state, which would be the socialist thing to do.
So where exactly are the US communist?

Capitalism = a economic system, in which the means of production can be owned and usage of those means can be restricted by individuals (capitalists) and that places profit as its highest goal and seeks for as little government intervention as possible
Late stage capitalism = a state of society in which corporate power has exceeded that of the government and the value of profit over people is visible in almost all facets of existence (for example prices of life saving medicine rising purely for profit, and most people not being able to sustainably live off of one full time (40hrs/week) job)
Socialism = a state of society in which resources are distributed to those in need equitably by a central institution (i. e. government) with value put especially on those resources necessary for survival (i. e. Food, housing, health care, education…)
Communism = a economic system in which all members of a stateless society together own the means of production together and equitably produce, use, and decide about what/how to produce, from each according to their needs to each according to their ability
