I really wanted to have the full game painted for this review, but as my only painting time is when the baby is asleep and my partner is home, and i dont have other things to do, i was getting though about 7 models every 2 weeks. So it would have been close to christmas when it was done. Hence including my old Sons of Medusa as "the enemy party" for the video. The playmats are two i got printed for a skirmish game years ago, and all the terrain is cobbled together from various kitsets i've got over the years. Although i hand made the road bit myself.

Think it's worth mentioning how expensive a decent army (and the assorted books/accessories) can be. Games Workshop are no joke with their pricing.

Love the Horus Heresy lore! I’ve been wanting to pick up this set as well. I’ve fallen behind on the novels, but I have read and re-read most of the first 40 or so… great stuff! Really gives inspiration for thematic modelling and painting for sure.

I remember when there was a series of hilarious reviews of Black Library's Horus Heresy Books that I still share with friends to this day. Given the series ended up stretching out to 54 mainline books of extremely varied quality (Ruinstorm and Deathfire as examples are borderline unreadable) it's probably for the best that book review series ended where it did, but its inspiration remains and I am forever thankful for the ones that do exist.

Before I clicked I thought, "There's no way." I'm impressed! You nailed the gist despite this game warranting a new scale of complexity, and somehow managed to fit a primer on the 60+ novel story. The resin vindicator and screenshot of the Goonhammer probability chart made me smile. Does this mean youre getting back into playing warhammer?
