Unboxing the Huawei Mate X3 foldable phone with a full tour of the camera tech, gaming abilities, split-screen features and beyond. As far as hardware goes, the Huawei Mate X3 certainly looks like a solid Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 rival. Of course, with EMUI on board rather than Android, there's the usual software caveats.

I'm absolutely in love with the design here, which is skinny and light compared with many foldables. The Huawei Mate X3 weighs less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, with a 6.4-inch outer screen and near 8-inch internal display. Both panels are OLED, with LTPO tech for the external screen. You've also got a stereo speaker setup.

Huawei has shoved several cameras on the Mate X3, with a 50MP Ultravision shooter headlining the back lot. This can't match the P60 Pro for evening shots or zoom snaps, but the Huawei Mate X3 is still very capable in better lighting.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 powers the Huawei Mate X3, so you can run apps side-by-side with a smooth experience or get gaming. If you can find some games that you actually enjoy. Battery life also gets a thumbs up, with enough grunt to last you all day, even with lots of screen on time.

People probably don't realize that Huawei is one of the most important tech companies in the world.
Every time they launch a flagship product they usually hit top of the rankings in every category (cameras, quality, innovation, etc.).
I'm an absolute fan of the brand and its products.
Even with the Google ban they continue to stun everyone with their products.

I wonder what would have happened had Huawei not had their issues/ban with the US. They were producing some fantastic devices and were heading for a domination of the market and Samsung would have definitely suffered massively had Huawei been still around in Europe and the US.

Huawei has far exceeded Samsung in terms of quality. If only it weren’t for the Google ban, I think they would’ve taken a good chunk of Samsung’s smartphone share.

I've got the Mate XS when it first come out and absolutely love it! After the years it's still running flawlessly. I'm just waiting for either Photon or Graphene chips to become available in Mobiles. That's when you'll see a quantum leap in performance and a mobile being worthy of an upgrade

No 5G, last years Snapdragon chipset. No Play Store. No Leica lenses either. No mention of GBox where you can run the majority of Google PlayStore apps? How good are those cameras? This or the Honor V2 (if it ever comes over to the UK) Still an amazing looking device and unlike Honor, will be built to a far higher standard.

If America hadn’t imposed the Google ban, Huawei would have overtaken Samsung and Apple at the top, middle and bottom end of the market to be the number one phone manufacturer. I’d still be buying huawei flagship phones if it wasn’t for the ban. Best phones I ever had.

It's just that the ban is really devastating.. I would love to use one but the hassle of not having all the apps or doing extra to get them installed is such a deal breaker.

The price is bananas though, don't think I'll be grabbing one of these handsome folding buggers anytime soon.

You can get the app drawer back from settings, it has to be turned on in home screen style
