In this video I show how to build a DIY portable folding sawbuck and try it out by bucking up some firewood for demonstration purposes. Of course Lexi is with me with her usual assortment of sticks. Enjoy!

Building a sawbuck today using your design. I have several cords that were cut too long for my current wood stove so this will work great to cut them down to size.

Finally someone said something about which board to drill and then do the opposite side. That’s the only part I had a problem with on another video. They didn’t mention that. it was my first time ever making one.

You have the best design for sure. I will be modifying mine to match yours with the 3" blocks to space the support beams off, and also lowering of the 2nd support beam. 👍

3" block for greater depth of cut: genius!

Nicely done.
I cut the 2"x4"x 8' in half at a 30 degree angle for a flatter footing when open on hard ground.

Thanks. I like the simplicity! I’m gonna try to make one for larger logs right off the log truck so it’s gonna be a bit longer with a 5’ section in the middle so I can set the logs down with my tractor grapple. I’m thinking 3-16” sections on each end with 5’ clear span in the middle. Thanks for the help.

I really like your design. I wish I had found it last week, because I just built one with the other design specs that you referenced lol

I like your design, especially the 3" pieces to give more clearance. I built mine today and tried it out. I had a few smaller pieces climb up the V and fly out. I was hoping the Saw Buck would keep this from happening. I'm thinking of taking some strips of innertube and using to strap them down when cutting branches. Thanks for the Video! I watched several, and liked your design the best. 😊

Thank you for a great design! Built my new sawbuck this afternoon. Easiest and most efficient design I've seen on youtube. Peace!

Thats a really good idea, using the short blocks to keep the upper cross bar down away from where the saw bar will be. Thanks for posting. Thumbs up.

Great build I like the 30degree cuts at the bottoms of the legs Also stain it for added longevity once the Lumber dries out

Great video! I built your saw buck a couple days ago with three modifications. Menards was a disorganized disaster, and they were out of the hardware you used. I ended up using 1/2” zinc plated bolts, with nylock nuts. I bought (2) 2x4x12’s and (1) 2x4x10’s because Menards said they were out of 2x4x8’s. (Their inventory was off.). I placed one washer between the two boards that make the X, and I did not put a board across the base at the bottom. The washer helps the boards slide, but remain tight, and I think the board at the bottom could have gotten in the way of my feet or cut wood would prevent the saw buck from moving easily. Your design seems to be the best out of all the videos I watched, especially with the blocks to increase the distant from the horizontal 2x4’s. Thank you for posting! Using a sawbuck is some much better than bending over the whole time! When you load 6 limbs at a time I think the saw buck is faster, too!

Love the 3" blocks. Other vids use a sacrificial 2x4 across the sawbuck to achieve the same thing you do with scrap wood. One comment for stability: cut the center leg off at the bottom of the crossbar. Its easier to find a stable footing on uneven ground when you're dealing with 4 points rather than on 6 (or 8 if you put a 4th 16" leg in)

I like this design, countersink the nuts on the carriage bolts so as to not have them come in contact with the saw blade.
