Episode 9 is on the Central Oregon & Pacific Siskiyou Line starting at Myrtle Creek Oregon and following the South Umpqua River Northbound. One of my more favorite parts of the Siskiyou Line.

Yea, I love these "flyin' the rails" videos. More.

Wow! That would be an epic area to model. I really liked the Rail dumped, for replacement, and the out of service siding

This is indeed a wonderful area. Lots of trees everywhere and lovely vegetation on both sides of the track. The river looks fantastic at the end of the video, where the riverbed is really wide and it's full of rocks. Plus the two bridges there are really cool too. Great flight as always Dan.

Great video Dan. I'm a little jelly of the train crews. They get a much better view of the river from the tracks than we get from I-5. They also don't have to worry about running off the road when they look over at it. LOL. I'm curious how some of those farmers grow those giant

Very cool.
In my backyard on this one. Have photographed many a train in this area back in SP days, even caught a few meets at Dole siding. Sure miss the SP.

As a former trucker, I always appreciated the views of the rivers and rails along the I-5 corridor. I thought that the water level of the south Umpqua would be higher in June.
Nevertheless, I'm glad that you noticed and shared the beauty of this area with us in OUTSTANDING quality!
Thank you, and bless you always, Dan!☝️😌

Thank you for another episode of Soaring the Rails, Dan! I enjoyed soaring over the tracks and the scenery along the Siskiyou River. I noticed that there was some welded rail along a good portion of the line that you flew over. It looks like there will be some track upgrading on this line. (Posted 12 November 2024 at 10322 CST.)

I'm really curious on when they'll remove the scrap rails along the line. I've noticed them just sitting there for the longest time now.

Also, from the freeway off-ramp onto Main Street to Myrtle Creek (and at the 0:20 mark of the video), there appears to be a natural cave-like formation right next to the right-of-way. Not sure if it's really that, but each time I pass through there, I wonder if that's really what it is.

Great video as always Dan! Well done as always!

Great video work. I was honestly scoping out the river access for fishing from this video, which is much harder to do with Google Maps.

Beautiful video Dan🤗 and the 'music-for-soaring' was a perfect fit. (I kinda liked this video, lol) . . . . .🚂Lawrence

That siding was called Dole - and I have photos of an east-bound freight tied down in it. I'm sure relieved that the derail on the north end is properly positioned!! Did you fly the horseshoe curve north of there, in Round Prairie (I think that's the correct name)? Great video, Dan!

Does placing the extra rail outside the ties help with erosion control?

I was wondering when we might get another "soaring" video and here it is...and it was definitely worth the wait! So I was curious, do you know what happens to old rails, are they recycled somehow or just left where they are? Anyways great video...Thank you so much!

When the opportunity is there for railroad to do welded rails, do you know if that is what they are working towards on this run?
