These are all great tips. I'm finally under control of my perfectionism at 62. When writing I now turn off all tools for spell checking and grammar and only correct a word if it has missing/wrong consonants as we don't need vowels to know what the word is when read back. Things like tone, voice, word choice, good dialogue, and many things, are not part of my drafting. It's just a brain dump, anything else and I fail to crack on. If the last sentence is wrong, rather than correct or delete and rewrite, I type [c] and write it again leaving the old version in. I never look back while writing. At the end of the session, I type a quick note as to what is next.

I mentioned this on your Instagram for your launch of They Return, but I'm about 75% through They Whisper and I absolutely love the tension and the character development. Cannot wait to jump into They Return soon!

I usually plateau and run out of steam at 1.5k words a day. Any tips?

I work on my crime fiction book outline for 40 minutes than I study my police officer exam for 1 hour, or sometimes I would read a book in the same genre of my book I am writing which is crime fiction then read police reports while I drink my coffee. I want to use a pen name because I don't want anyone to know that I am an author or writer because if I want to be a police officer I cannot use my real name on any book I write, I cannot use an author photo of me on any of my books, I cannot market my books on social media because when applying for a job to become a cop the chief of police and sheriff will check your social media accounts, they will also do a background check on you. I want to be an author but I also want to be a police officer too but I want to keep my writing private from my job because no one needs to know I am a writer. My crime fiction stories are very good, it's so good that I might not even have to be a cop for long because the book sounds like it's going to be a success best seller. Hey after all it's extra money so why not get it. Actually I really want to be a police officer I will still be a cop, but seriously this story I am writing sounds like it's going to be a man or TV series. I might write it as a screenplay myself once I am done writing the book and of course I will have it professionally edit, use grammarly, and pro writing aid for my stories and my police reports because it's all writing.
