Also unlike in Canada, prices in China include taxes. The price you see is the final price you pay.

In 1980s, The Chinese government launched a program called “ basket project”, which ensured the production and variety of foods. Many years ago, Chinese people used to be starved, nowadays, we have the highest consumption for protein, fruits, and vegetables. The government really did a good job😊

Being a totally Chinese I would tell u this market is a typical supermarket of China. Prices are normal. To be honest, other little shops engaged by persons or specifically markets like for farm products are more popular, this kind of supermarket will be chosen only when we need to buy a lot of different things.
Your video is pretty awesome and reflects our real life. Keep on bro

Chinese has a traditional weight unit called Jin(斤). 1 Jin equals to 500g and 2 Jin equals to 1 KG. Chinese people are still used to use Jin. That is why you see most of the price is using 500g as unit

Most of the vloggers, including you, have missed the online shopping culture in China. It's something you should try because it's an important part of Chinese daily life. For food delivery, you can ask someone about Meituan or Eleme and give it a try. Ask any random Chinese you met on street or in hotel, they will show you how to do it on your phone. Sometimes you get very good deal if you order it online with coupon

The Chinese government launched a "vegetables basket project"30 years ago, to ensure the supply of fruits, vegetables, fishes and meats in China. At the same time, it increased trade with other countries, imported a lot of agricultural products, and lowered people's living costs. In addition, agricultural products are exempt from taxes in China, which further reduces the burden of farmers and people's living costs. China has strong manufacturing capacity, which further reduces the price of daily necessities.

Fun fact: The Chinese PPP, which is related to purchasing power, is the highest in the world.

I haven't been to a supermarket in a long time because online delivery is cheaper, super fast and has free shipping. Because the Internet in China is so convenient, I don’t want to go out every day.
There is a Starbucks and a supermarket downstairs from me. If I go to a physical store to buy a cup of Starbucks, it costs more than 30 RMB, but it only costs me more than 20 RMB to order online. I really can't find a reason to go downstairs.
lol~

11:20... I supposed those milk powder supplement are for the elderly to build up their calcium mass and other vitamins in their bodies. It's pretty common in this part of the world.😊

12:57 What you see are milk powders, but they are not for babies but for adults, or more precisely, for the elderly. Because of the dietary structure of Chinese food, they consume less milk or dairy products than europeans and americans, which makes it easier for the elderly to have calcium deficiency, so there are milk powders for the elderly.

In addition, Chinese people are more likely to suffer from lactose intolerance (similar to Americans who are prone to peanut allergies). Compared with fresh milk, older people are more likely to choose this kind of milk powder.

Imported goods in China are slightly more expensive than those from abroad, but domestic products are much cheaper. In terms of purchasing power, the actual exchange rate of the euro to the RMB is 1:3, Swiss prices are twice as high as those in Western Europe, and Northern European prices are 1.5 times as high as those in Western Europe. Germany is the engine of the European economy, with the median after-tax income in Germany being 2, 600 euros, Italy 1, 600, Eastern Europe 900, Southeast Europe 500, Northern Europe 3, 500, and Switzerland 5, 500. The actual exchange rate of the US dollar to the RMB is 1:3.3, the median after-tax income in the United States is 3, 000 US dollars, and the exchange rates of the Australian dollar, New Zealand dollar, and Canadian dollar to the RMB are 1:2, with the median after-tax income being 4, 000.

These small bananas you saw are actually sweet and yellowish inside. I always buy it. Very yummy. The milk powder are for elderly people. They have calcium for bones and other type of vitamins which is good for their health. Even they have the pampers for the elderly too. In my opinion, it’s not that cheap compare to lots of smaller supermarket around China but price wise it’s ok. Some stuffs are cheaper than other supermarket and some more expensive. I think sometimes it depends on the location of the store too.😮

In fact, if you go online, most products will be about one-third cheaper than supermarkets.
