Hello Fellow Humans,

I may be biased as I am permanently disabled due to Bone Cancer. Since 2016 I have been in pain 24 7 and use crutches to walk. I absolutely hate my life and I honestly don't remember what it feels like to run or be pain free.

So I desperately need technology to save my life. It is literally the reason besides my children that I haven't ended my life. The thought that I will potentially become immortal and be free of this human meat sac gives me hope. I can't wait to upload my brain or have nano bots or become a cyborg. Something other than human. I will definitely sign up for anything I can. You have no clue what it is like to be essentially in bed 24 7 and not able to do whatever you want whenever you want. I would be happy with even full dive technology so I can at least lay down and live in the VR world and be the main character of an anime or game or movie. I can't wait for this and truly hope it comes soon.

But of course we have religion and Republicans so we will probably see a second civil war or world war 3. It just seems like certain groups really enjoy war and hate progress. Apparently they don't understand history and how horrible it was back in the day.

2045 is being too optimistic for singularity, I'd say it will be 10 years earlier at the rate it's currently going, As for AGI it's either already here and being hidden or within the next 2 years.

Can we have more talks about how AI will shape nano technology? Seems like a topic no one is covering. As far as I’m aware, the issue with manufacturing nano is the time constraint but with AI and automation it doesn’t seem like a far stretch. It seems to me that cancer treatment will be with nano in the bloodstream identifying and killing cancer cells.

Someone in the industry recently posted a video about a research paper claiming that there is a “diminishing rate of returns” regarding the payback of using more data to train larger models. It claimed the scaling breaks down. Now I don’t know if the proposal or the paper it is based on are correct and if they are this doesn’t invalidate the concept of an “accelerating rate of returns” for technology in general since not all progress is based solely on training data or model size. Still, I am interested as to whether the S-curve for these factors is starting to max out and scaling will cease to bring substantial advances on its own.
