It was really helpful. I need to review my math. I have done math to calculus 2 at UNI for a Chemistry degree more than 50 years ago. Now, I have my grandkids doing Maths from Grade 8 to Grade 10 and I have realised that I have forgotten many things. I have decided to review ALL the maths from Algebra 2. I will certainly, follow your courses. I enterily agree about "notetaking". In my time we did not have calculators, but we use "log tables" and "slide rule". Eventually, in the 1970 I was able for buy my first calculator. The rest is history! Ah, my old Maths teacher use to say: "You just need paper and pencil to practice and learn Maths".

I never took notes, and I was always at the top of my class in math. Notes aren’t important, understanding the concepts that you are taking notes about is important. If you learn the principles, you won’t need notes!

Thanks for your detailed explanations (and quick review of the basics used in each concept). I took math years ago, it was all memory and no cause and effect explantions. Very boring. You say "why" and that makes it interesting.

If a student plans on going into electronics they need to get quite comfortable with imaginary numbers. Especially when doing calculation on circuits involving capacitors & chokes. Also they'll have to get used to converting back and forth between Polar Form and Rectangular Form because easier to multiply or divide in Polar Form and add or subtract in Rectangular Form.

Yeah -- most modern calculators can do complex numbers directly (any HP48.49, 50 Prime) -- generally the best way to deal with this is convert to polar - multiply the magnitudes and add the angles, then convert back. You can aslo do it the hard way with using j^2 = -1 and use foil. Also not that me main field that uses complex numbers is electronics/electrical engineering - in that system we use j as the imaginary operator instead of the "i" because "i" is already used as current.

Good! 😃 Agreed on the a topic for Algebra 2. 😃
Alternate solution. Use an alternative to FOIL. Use a graph/matrix. This will reduce any chance for mixing up terms.

Not everyone who isn’t taking notes is on their phone or talking to someone. I can’t take good notes because I have an auditory processing disorder. I always had a friend take notes for me.
