THE DANGERS OF ABANDONED MINE EXPLORATION :

****

Abandoned mines contain dangers for which equipment and training are required. Hazards can include false floors, open shafts, low oxygen, poisonous gases, collapsing or rotten structures, explosives, flood risks, bacterial infection and of course, rock falls. NEVER enter alone, ALWAYS thoroughly research your destination, ALWAYS alert a third party to your plans and timings. STAY OUT, STAY ALIVE.

This video SHOULD NOT be considered instructional or used for navigation within this mine. Video is for historical documentation and entertainment only.

The time and effort to create the arching never fails to impress
Keep your new fangled concrete
It's ugly and it won't last 5 minutes

Thanks for the explore, guys 👍

The arching in this mine is just spectacular not so much the concrete but understand dome needs to be reinforced. Its hard to imagine those miners working in dangerous conditions with just candlelight. They had to navigate manways aviod moving minecarts & avoid shafts. They really were special people. Fab video look forward to part 3! ❤😊👍🤚🤛🤜

Only the first door was hydraulic, the rest had an arm fixed to the frame on the opposite side of the frame from the hinges. It swung across the door inside and was padlocked to a hasp, the hasp is the part i cut away, it was the weakest part of an excellent design. The second door showed how it worked so the next ones were easier and used less gas. The padlock was accessed through the large diameter hole in the door. Quite a fiddle if you dropped the key.

One wonders if it's worth drilling into that arching in places to let the water drain out from behind or if it'd be a complete waste of time. As far as preserving what's there goes that is.

I've been watching alot of Mine Explores in the USA and I dont see anything like the amount of work in them mines compared to the UK, I mean the block work in the tunnels etc. I can't even comprehend how long that would take to do. Is that a more modern thing?
