I once had a roommate from a small town, where everyone knows each other, when the dude came to the big city he would say hi to literally everyone on the streets, guess old habits die hard

Here's another thing:

Concerts and events where famous people go to are like 6574849373636 hours away.

You forgot to mention the gossip. Everyone knows everything it's kind of scary. If you do one thing wrong, the ENTIRE TOWN knows about it.

There is a difference between a small town and a country town.

People who romanticize small towns: People who don't live in small towns. Seriously, there's nothing to do and a good portion of the population probably grows weed.

Forgot that you practically grow up with all the same people, saw the same person almost every time you went to town, everyone goes to and relies on that one store, and that you almost always run into someone you know every time you go to town. XD

a small town doesn't have to be a farm.

I don't understand any of these because I grew up in more of a small city town. Not every town is a farm by the country side 😑

The first time I took the subway I felt trapped like in a rat maze and had a panic attack  lol . Yup .. I grew up in the countryside. All those busy businessman walking super fast everywhere and  bums asking me for money. So scary.

Cultural shock.

I'm from a large city. Once we went to this really small town with a population of like, 100. I walked pass a window and this guy smiled and waved at me. I was so surprised. I looked at him for a solid 5 seconds before smiling stupidly and hesitantly waving. In the city I live in, people just usually ignore each other's existence...lol

I grew up in a town with a population of 140. People talk about how they grew up in such small towns with populations of 1000. They don't know small.

Yes, all of this!!! Except the parade-thingy. There's not enough people in my town to hold parades or anything of the sort. When I have my driver's license I'm gonna be the happiest girl in the world because then I can actually LEAVE the town without having to check for busses that come only so many times a day. Or when I'm hungry and we don't have anything in the house I won't have to be hungry anymore. I can LEAVE and go to a SHOP with FOOD! We don't have a shop. If you have an empty fridge and live in my town and you don't have a car or a license - you're doomed. Well, you can wait for the bus, but that can take hours. Walking is not exactly an option, as the town is on top of a hill/almost mountain. I mean, sure, you can walk down, but up? Sure, if you're a professional sports-person. People who live in civilized areas have no idea.

Born and raised in a small town at the bottom of the Swiss Alps and I somehow relate to this.

Grew up in a small town. Looking back, it was pretty cool. Rode dirt bikes, hiked, fished, learned the value of hard work. Sure, stuff like small dating pool was true, and as this was before the internet, we were behind the news and pop culture cycle. Moved to a big city when I was 19 and yeah it has its pluses but a lot of negatives. I'll say this, everyone had guns where I grew up, yet no one ever took them to school unless it was to refinish the stocks in woodshop.
