Doctor Reacts To FRIENDS Medical Scenes

Friends was one of my favorite shows growing up, so much so that I can still recite entire scenes line-for-line! I realized there were actually a TON of medical scenes throughout the series, such as Rachel AND Phoebe giving birth, Ross’ third nipple, and Joey’s kidney stones. Let’s take a look at how accurate these scenes were and see if Friends holds up 20+ years later!

I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

My ob/gyn was Korean, he yelled at my 6'9" husband, " you no pass out, you too big, no one can lift you!"

"That is not a newborn baby"

My mum every time a baby is born on a show: Look at that brand new 3-month old baby

My favorite during Emma’s birth is when Rachel head butts Ross, he stands up and says “you have no idea how much this hurts”, and they all just stare at him 😂

Does anyone else feel so smart when Dr. Mike is saying something medical and you understand…

I have watched Friends dozens of times. Not once did I ever notice the resident during the birth scene of Emma.

The woman in the background when Rachel was pushing is an actual RN - she was required to be there bc the ‘newborn actor’ was so small they had to have proper medical personnel for safety
Also - the birthing fluid used in the scene is snack jelly (usually grape bc it’s the right colour and consistency) which helps tiny actors self soothe bc it’s sweet and gentle for baby tummies

Interviewer: Is this too close?
Dr.Mike: Yes
Interviewer: Is this too close?
Dr.Mike: Yes
Interviewer: Is this too close?
Dr.Mike: You know what? No. The distance you are at now, despite being closer than the last two times I told you weren't appropriate, is actually now appropriate.

When my mom went into labour she drove herself to the hospital, got pulled over by cops for speeding, got to the hospital, was told she couldn't have the epidoral (idk how to spell it) because apparently she has a curved spine (which she doesn't), was in labour for 36 hours and one C section later I was brought into this world. The woman in the room next to her was the wife of the cop who pulled her over for speeding. Thanks mom 💜

My favorite line from Rachel “no uterus, no opinion!” 😅😅

I’m so thankful my husband is a nurse because he was able to stare at all the action when I was giving birth. He also has an amazing poker face because I had a lot of tearing and was bleeding everywhere. He just said, “….Looking good!”

I was hoping he’d cover Dr Drake Ramoray’s brain transplant 😂

Love how women don't faint during labor while pushing AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING OUT OF THEIR BODIES but men do after taking one (1) look 😂

I love that Dr Mike says he delivered 38 babies. Not about 40, or many, or just babies. I’m pretty sure if I was delivering babies I would know the exact number of lives I’ve helped bring j to the world. Doctors and nurses are my heroes!

It’s quite sweet that Dr. Mike recalls exactly how many babies he’s delivered.

Mike isn't like Ross. He's a Dr you'd want around in an emergency.

The fact that Dr. Mike is a Friends fan makes this so much better

The part where the doctor calls in other doctors to see what lesions Ross has is funny, because as I lay in a hospital bed due to asthma attacks a few years ago, my doctor says

"Wow, these are the worst lungs I've ever heard, I wish my residents were here so that they could get a listen."
I was 35, and that's not what I wanted to hear.

I was so blessed with my husband, he looked/watched as both of our babies heads appeared and came through and out and he was smiling and happy the whole time to see his little ones coming to meet us. Both times as they were born onto my chest he cried tears of pure joy and to me it was incredible to see him so overjoyed instead of afraid or fainting
