A Tribute to Donald O’Connor [S’posin’]

I'm still a little iffy about the last tribute video I made for this lovely man, so I decided I would try again. I think I prefer this one personally, but I'll let you be the judge of which one is better.

Anyhow! Donald O'Connor. This was a problem I had with the last video, too - I have no idea where to begin. He was a masterful comedian and one of the best dancers to ever be captured on camera, dorky and charming and dedicated, extraordinary in every move (ok, I may have reused some words!). His primary goal as a performer, since even his childhood on vaudeville, was to bring people joy. And it certainly worked for me. No matter the movie, and no matter the quality of it, it's worth it just to see him on the screen, doing his thing.

Unfortunately he's not remembered as well as some of the other dancers of his time, but those of us who've been blessed enough to discover him should consider ourselves lucky! He is the epitome of the Hollywood performer - he had it all. And there will never be anyone else like him again.

Anyway, gushing aside, I hope you enjoy my video. The song is "S'posin'" by Dean Martin, and I thought it fit pretty well. I don't own the song or any of the clips and no copyright infringement is intended by using them.

Movies included:
When Johnny Comes Marching Home (1942)
Patrick the Great (1945)
Something in the Wind (1947)
Feuding, Fussing, and a-Fightin' (1948)
Yes Sir, That's My Baby (1949)
Francis (1950)
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
I Love Melvin (1953)
Call Me Madam (1953)
There's No Business Like Show Business (1954)
Anything Goes (1956)

Excellent video and thank you. Donald O'Connor was my favorite of them All. Say what you want but he was truly the GOAT. A wonderful and extremely talented man that took dancing to all new levels. There wasn't anything he couldn't do. I wish before he passed he would have gotten his lifetime achievement award.

Thank you for this fine & delightful tribute to the vastly under-rated and very brilliant, very very talented Donald O'Connor. 🎼💎🎶💖✔

As you said: '' Unfortunately he's not remembered as well as some of the other dancers of his time, but those of us who've been blessed enough to discover him should consider ourselves lucky! ''
There are no other ways to say it! I think exactly the same thing and you have expressed the concept perfectly
! Really.

I recently saw Call Me Madam and I was amazed, it's wonderful, some scenes made me cry a lot. (I was born in the wrong era... I've always knew this)
However, YouTube needs videos like these, the world needs to know who is Donald.
...
I love you Donald, you'll always be in my heart.

My favorite dancer/entertainer. Tribute song by my favorite singer, Dean Martin. It doesn't get any better than this 😉. Thank you 😊 This was a fantastic song selection. I've watched it a zillion times now. Had to make a second comment 😅

Donald was marvellous, I don't think I've ever seen someone like him on film before (and after!)
Such a talented man, he should never be forgotten.
I loved everything you said about him, and I couldn't agree more. And of course, your video was beautiful! This is a lovely tribute to a lovely man.
You've done an excellent job! Now I want more, sorry lol

Good job, I have not seen some of the clips. The ones I knew you got cleaner and clearer, so thank you. Nice matching of the music and video. We fans appreciate you.

Nice job! There will never be enough tributes to the wonderful Donald. BTW the first two clips with Peggy are from "Patrick the Great" and the last is from "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."

This is great! I have been trying to make some tributes of my own. How do you choose the music?
