A Tribute to Donald O’Connor [S’posin’]
Показать описание
I'm still a little iffy about the last tribute video I made for this lovely man, so I decided I would try again. I think I prefer this one personally, but I'll let you be the judge of which one is better.
Anyhow! Donald O'Connor. This was a problem I had with the last video, too - I have no idea where to begin. He was a masterful comedian and one of the best dancers to ever be captured on camera, dorky and charming and dedicated, extraordinary in every move (ok, I may have reused some words!). His primary goal as a performer, since even his childhood on vaudeville, was to bring people joy. And it certainly worked for me. No matter the movie, and no matter the quality of it, it's worth it just to see him on the screen, doing his thing.
Unfortunately he's not remembered as well as some of the other dancers of his time, but those of us who've been blessed enough to discover him should consider ourselves lucky! He is the epitome of the Hollywood performer - he had it all. And there will never be anyone else like him again.
Anyway, gushing aside, I hope you enjoy my video. The song is "S'posin'" by Dean Martin, and I thought it fit pretty well. I don't own the song or any of the clips and no copyright infringement is intended by using them.
Movies included:
When Johnny Comes Marching Home (1942)
Patrick the Great (1945)
Something in the Wind (1947)
Feuding, Fussing, and a-Fightin' (1948)
Yes Sir, That's My Baby (1949)
Francis (1950)
Singin' in the Rain (1952)
I Love Melvin (1953)
Call Me Madam (1953)
There's No Business Like Show Business (1954)
Anything Goes (1956)
