There is a photo of a 26 ft croc that was shot in Rabaul, New Guinea with 2 5 foot guys standing in its open mouth. Photo is mid 1970, s in either Pix or Peoples magazine published in Australia.

Malcolm Douglas the aussie croc expert used to see a 25 foot croc in some NT river, he christened it The Hippo, they had it next to there boat, the corks on the boat were 4 feet apart and there were 6 of them the croc was as long as all the corks along the boat, in the past some Salties reached 25 feet, I do think 28 is humongous but when there were 25 footers about 28 isn’t that far off, but again 18 feet is huge so 28 feet does seem too much ….

Seems credible to me, as there's always freakish specimens of any species, in all sorts of ways. Allowing for the occasional exception to the norm is just logical.

The place where this happened & where the replica stands today in Australia is called Normanton - in the gulf separating the state of Queensland & the Northern Territory.
A remote town that was way smaller then than today. It is said there was nothing big enough to pull it out of the sea so the carcass washed away with the out going tide. But not before it was measured, hence the reported length.
I live remote in NT where I saw a monster myself but only once. A guy that worked here that lived in Normanton for 15yrs saw it too & thought it rivalled "Krys". I don't have photos & people don't have to believe me. It is what it is. Oh well. ✌🏽🤨

They definitely got that big back in day before they were decimated but NOW I’m sure we will start seeing huge ones again as we go for decades of leaving em alone/protecting them

You never know. My father when he was government trapper. Killed a coyote that weighed 54 pounds . Had a pic of him. But we can't seem to find it. Anymore. He shot it when he was 26. He is now 82. Tx A&M wanted it skull, because they didn't believe it when dad's boss told them so dad sent them the skull. They became super interested. Thought he might be a throw back. But nope, . Turned out he was just a big coyote .

I seen in Florida about six years ago a crocodile as tall as a 30 foot camper and it ran so fast like some kind of motorized machine also it took me in as it’s own and now gator don’t play that shit.
