That grandma who painted her house pink and turned on the Christmas lights is a LEGEND!!!! So savage, so petty, I love it!!!

I have an in law who doesn’t like me. Every Xmas shed “gift” me unpleasant presents such as used make up samples, or beer when I was pregnant. She didn’t give the presents herself, just gave a bunch to my husband to go out and deliver. So he arrived home with a bunch of parcels for his side of the family. I didn’t open them, just swapped all the labels. On Christmas day my husband got a phone call with her screaming on the other end that “he got all the presents WRONG! And she was SO EMBARRASSED” that people she wanted to impress got dirty gardening gloves or second hand underwear.
I got a nice present that year, and my husband was never asked to be delivery man again.

Barking dog neighbor has a point- something isn't right if they are barking all hours.

Yeah, I'm with the neighbor who pretty politely (not passive aggressively) asked their neighbors to do something about their dog barking. Dogs are very smart and can be trained, and I sadly see so many times in my neighborhood where dog owners neglect their pups and leave them locked outside all day no matter the temperature/weather barking and howling nonstop for help. It's very simple--if you have a dog, take care of it.

My old neighbors had a huge pasture full of cows, they got loose all the time. Would come over into my yard and take huge dumps all over it and all over the road. I finally had enough and got a wheelbarrow and shoveled it all up, dumped it right in front of their gate. Literally took 3 loads to get it all. It was such a huge pile they had to move it before they could drive through. They fixed the fence.

We have a neighbor whose dogs are outside dogs all day while she's at work. They sing the song of their people for the first hour she's gone and bark a ton for the rest of the day. I can't exist in my own back yard without them losing their shit. I work from home.
We tried to talk to her nicely, offered to introduce our dogs so they would be more chill with us. She overhead my husband tell our dog, "You will not be borky like those rude dogs." She lost her shit on him, really went wild with insults ("you're what, 20?" "your wife is going to leave you" "I'm telling your boss"). She even said she was (illegally) recording him (hence she was baiting him to get a reaction).

I got super petty and recorded each and every time her dogs barked, if there was howling, start time, end time, for over a month. There was even an entry for a neighbor that shouted, "Shut the fuck up" at the dogs. Then I handed that report to the police.

STRANGELY, the dogs finally shut the hell up.
Bonus: Karen neighbor is a local elementary school teacher. If we're going to tattle to each other's bosses, I feel like I might win that fight...

I once did what that grandmother did. Not because of a neighbor but because of a petty little code officer. During the 12 years I lived there I was forced to paint my house every year because they would find (nonexistent) chipped or peeling paint. At year number 10 I knew what was coming and just went ahead and painted my house (the same drab brown and gray as every other year). Lo and behold I got a citation anyway, at court I protested that I had already painted the house which they refused to believe and I was give 2 weeks to fix the problem or be fined. So I repainted it pink with purple trim and then located and bought a dozen Blue Flamingos for my lawn, upon returning to court I asked if they could tell that it had been painted this time.

My Daughters first time saying "Shark" was today, when you pulled your Shark puppet out, she ran up toward the TV pointing and says "Shark". It was the best and I'll never forget it. 🥰 Thanks Charlotte.

my husband has a Husky/malamute. they are nolsy. However, with TRAINING and patience, he no longer howls and barks when left alone. so yeah, the neighbor upset about the constant barking had a right to complain and had a valid point.

My dad works construction and gets up really early. His old neighbor would be really loud, late at night, and the walls are paper thin. So for months he wasn't getting a good sleep. But she worked from home, and the offices were adjacent. So when he would leave at 4:30AM, he would turn on the radio, just loud enough that she'd be able to hear it clearly all day, and I'm sure it bugged her all day!!! She stopped being so noisy in the middle of the night after a few weeks of that. LOL!

I had a neighbor who lived below me and smoked incessantly. I talked to the landlord about it, but we technically do not live in a smokefree apartment so there was nothing we could do. Much to my husband's dismay I did become a little petty about it. The smoking got so bad and frequent that we couldn't even keep out windows on that side of the apartment open at any time. He didn't work and loved to be on the phone constantly. I tried a few small things, windchime, birdseed, door slamming, but to no avail. One day he started smoking inside his unit and blowing it out the screen door, which caused it to go straight up and into our unit. I had enough so I decided to read through our lease to see if there were any loopholes. I found one. Turns out that you are not allowed to have smells from your apartment entering other units. I called the landlord and after being told again that she couldn't do anything about smoking I replied that I wasn't complaining about the smoke, but about the SMELL. She paused, and then told me that she would talk to them. Later she called me back and said she had told them that they had to smoke either in the house with the windows shut, or all the way out on the porch. Less than 3 months later they moved. I later found out that their apartment was so bad after they moved that it had to be gutted. So yeah, always read the fine print.

I have a friend who has an aunt that is an artist. She makes metal sculptures. So, she had placed two sculptures in her front yard. A neighbor did not like them and complained to the aunt. After that she complained to the town. Of course the town had no authority to do anything. So, the aunt decided to be extra petty, she put out several more sculptures and painted the outside of her house this god awful pepto bismol pink color!! She painted the siding, the trim, the shutters, and the door!!! My friend told me she also considered painting the roof pink!! Hahahaha!

All the houses around me are rentals. We've lived here for 35 years. Once a couple moved in next door, stole a window ac unit from our shed, and had the balls to put it in their front window, then started running an extension cord from their house to our back yard plug. Every time we'd try to talk to them about it they claimed it wasn't them. So one really hot night we popped the circuit breakers and sat outside in the dark by the fire pit. Their house was the only other black house in the neighborhood.

They moved soon after, taking the door to the house with them, and leaving their cat behind. We have that cat's kittens, who will be 15 next month.

Back in the 80's (I was probably 23/24 and working Keeneland racetrack galloping horses and had to get up really early in the mornings) I lived in a large house that was broken up into apartments. Had a punk neighbor move into the apartment next to my bedroom. He would come home when all the bars closed down and blare his stereo waking me up. I was polite the first couple of times but then called the cops a few times. Low and behold the electrical panel box for the upstairs apartments was in my apartment so I just started throwing the breaker to his apartment when his music would start and go peacefully back to sleep and the next morning tur the breaker back on. It was always fun to hear
him in the morning cursing when his music woke him up! At 64 I still chuckle about this.

I have a neighbor who would leave their porch light on all night. It shone right into my bedroom. So annoying! I took them some homemade jam and asked them to please turn it off at night. They didn't even realize it was on! There have been a couple times since that it's been left on, but they do try. I appreciate it!

Ah, the house that was painted pink reminded me of a petty neighbor revenge, and it still makes me smile. On moving day, my husband and I were met by our new neighbor and his extensive list of things that he insisted we attend to right away, as his property bordered on ours. I mean, the moving van was still in the driveway! We were not off to a good start! 'Rene' was retired and walked up and down the street several times a day, no doubt looking for offenses. People avoided and ignored him. As our home was immediately next door, he was difficult to avoid.
An aluminum shed in our yard was an outstanding grievance of Rene's, as the back faced his yard. In truth, the shed was older and faded, so I set about giving it a fresh coat of Tremclad (nice terra cotta colour with white trim). In minutes, Rene was in his yard wanted the shed removed and he badgered me for about an hour. I left for the store and returned with a can of brilliant pink paint, generously applying to the back of the shed. Two coats of glow-in-the-dark pink. Rene lost his mind, yelling and swearing. I told him if I heard another word, I'd paint huge purple flowers on it. Point made. He didn't speak to us after that.
