Kai has every right to be more angry than Jay. Kai is Nya's older brother while Jay is just her boyfriend, but Kai doesn't become reckless and stupid. Kai has definitely matured a lot.

Honestly Jay did that out of pure anger and to be fair kai also has ever right to be pissed. That his his sister he has more connection to her then Jay does and ever will.

Tbh, Jay triggered me this season, if anyone should have been this way, it should've been Kai, a lover can be replaced, but a sister cannot, especially as Kai vowed to protect nya, as an older brother, that's a pain you can't even imagine, cartoon or not

Tbh, I don’t blame Kai for getting mad, I was surprised when Jay kicked him! Also, did you notice the water start moving at 0:23? Maybe it was Nya, telling them to stop fighting, just my theory.

As much as Kai's anger is as justified as Jay's, just remember that Nya was the only other person who remembered Skybound and so when she merged with the sea, Jay was all alone with his trauma. There's also the fact that he and Nya have gone through being the only ones to survive, TWICE, both ending up with Nya dying in Jay's arms. While Kai himself doesn't remember Skybound, and was already cubed way before Nya's "death" in prime empire.
Kai also takes the opportunity to take a jab, or throw doubt at Jay's capabilities almost all the time Jay either helps him, or is about to do something majorly helpful for the team.
"If Jay can do it, how hard can it be?"
"I told you, anyone who like Jay that much can't be normal."
*Sarcastically "Thanks, Jay."

And there's the fact that Kai almost got his sister killed by telling jay to use perfume back in s1
Jay's probably got a lot of pent up rage for Kai even if you remove Nya from the equation.

In all, Kai has become better at managing his temper, but Jay's tired of people forgetting, about him, about his trauma, about the threats on the horizon, so when Kai chooses acceptance, a quieter way of coping, Jay freaks out because the lack of an emotional outburst feels like when Nya died last time in Skybound and everyone just couldn't remember and 'moved on' so quickly.
Sure Jay is in the wrong here for choosing violence but it makes quite a lot of sense as to why he'd do such a thing.

For everyone who talking about Jay’s attitude, I don’t think y’all realize how serious this is. Losing someone hurts the family of that person but it hurts the partner the most simply because the person who is gone and that person’s partner we’re supposed to be together for the rest of their lives and now that person is gone. People forget how Jay’s live took a downward spiral after he lost Nya. He grew a beard, talked to water glasses, and was basically miserable. Others took is well but Jay was isolated in the middle of nowhere and that shows how depressed he was.
