Don't forget is combat skills. He might not be as strong as Cole or as powerful as Lloyd, but he can beat up anybody with is battle iq, he learned the dragons rising technique quickly, and destroyed Cinder. Without Kai Lloyd would be dead. And Kai is literally the mascot of ninjago marketing.

Kai's my favorite because of what he's learned. Learning to take a step back and protect others instead of leading all the time is some INSANE character development for a kids show.
The fact that he still struggled with jealousy after he decided to be Lloyd's protector was very realistic and made me like his arc all the more. All that on top of the big brother vibes he gives is beautiful!
I just wish he could keep his character development for more than 3 seasons lol, but I still love him despite that.
