Empire: Total War 1vs1: Beylik Janissary Musketeers vs Nizam-I Cedit Infantry
Nation: Ottoman vs Ottoman
AI Strength: normal

*Beylik Janissary Musketeers: Stretched out, no Fire by Rank.
*Nizam-I Cedit Infantry: Fire by Rank used.

Beylik Janissary Musketeers are the Ottoman variant of Western Guards, possessing better statistics than their lesser counterparts, as well as the ability to inspire nearby troops. However, Beylik Janissary Musketeers are plagued by various problems: they lack bayonets, they cannot form squares, and they cannot utilize the various firing drills(This can be ignored because they have better accuracy and better reload abilities so they are stronger than European Line inf in fire battle)[1]. When entrenched, they cannot erect trenches or wooden barricades to defend themselves. Beylik Janissary Musketeers do hold an advantage over Guards in that they only require Drill Schools to train and that they may be trained quickly and in unlimited number. Even when Nizam-I Cedit Infantry become available, Beylik Janissary Musketeers are still useful for their morale-boosting characteristics. With the Elite Units of the East DLC, Beylik Janissary Musketeers are made somewhat obsolete by Cairo Janissaries, which possess better stats and serve a similar function. However, as Beylik Janissary Musketeers may be trained worldwide when compared to the Egypt-exclusive Cairo Janissaries, they do retain a flexible role as elite infantry that can quickly be called upon.

Nizam-I Cedit Infantry are available to the Ottoman Empire, and gives the Ottoman Army what it sorely needs: competent line infantry. In this regard, they excel, possessing better statistics than even most European Line Infantry, and are some of the only Ottoman units capable of using Fire by Rank and Fire and Advance. In addition, they benefit from being resistant to heat fatigue, giving them a stamina edge over most opponents on arid maps. However, they may only be recruited after the research of European Doctrine, and the construction of an Army Vizirate--a mid to late game technology and building, respectively. This subsequently makes Nizam-I Cedit Infantry available only in the mid to late game, forcing the Ottomans to make do with the vastly inferior Isarelys for a majority of their Grand Campaign.

That is one of the thing i liked about empire. Without fire by rank, the irregulars troops fire but start to have jams and some dies and are replaced by the one behind and so on. After 2 reloads, the shots become so irregular and frantics that they lose all impact, which is really realistic with those kind of guns.

ottoman uniforms probably most historically inaccurate thing in the game

The detail of the first soldier at 02:23 is excellent

2:23 Hahahaha Nizam-ı Cedit infantryman's rifle does not fire and he quickly checks the rifle. Nice detail. Remember, your gunpowder should always be dry.

They were tearing each other apart! That was quite a brutal showdown, thanks for the video!

I think the jenissary could have won if the morale didn't make them to root basically because the nizam-i-cedit unit lost their hability of firing by rank due to not having enough people. Nizam-i-cedit are just a better option in large armies, but in a 1 vs 1 they are not elite infantry

These videos make me see how much of the game was I not able to see, but man Empire is so painful to play compared to other total wars, I hope they will ever make Empire 2 and make it right

Just asking would you be doing future matches with other total war titles like Warhammer, Attila, or three Kingdoms? Other than that I Reallly liked the idea of having the same faction face one another! 💯

Jannasaries are more of a sword combat elite unit than a firing unit. I bet if it was hand to hand as well as firing combat mixed, jannasaries would win. Shoot the enemy, let the enemy shoot, and then charge.

uhm this is a "i am too shy to ask" question. in empire and shogun 2, is it better to stretch the line as long as possible or 3-4 rank is better?

and how about in rome 2 and attila? is there need to stretch the infantry units?
