Billie Eilish Addresses Sexuality After She Says She Was 'Outed' on Red Carpet

Billie Eilish speaks out after being asked about her sexuality on a red carpet. The singer was honored at this year's 'Variety' Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles on Saturday. On Instagram, Billie thanked 'Variety' for the honor presented, but called them out for 'outing' her before the event during their interview. The GRAMMY winner writes, 'Thanks Variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 a.m. instead of talking about anything else that matters.'

Same girl same, got married at 18 and I’ve only had relationships with other guys and only realized I was bi and accepted myself as bi when I was like 22 or 23. Honestly I’m not anticipating getting divorced or anything but I don’t think I’d date girls. They’re so intimidating and I’m just scared of them. I don’t think I would.

I am bothered by the phrase 'come out' in the sense of confession, like 'she admitted that she is' and then labeling. She hasn't committed a crime to confess to. I think what she has done is valuable and I'm glad because something as natural as sexual identity, which, if not heterosexual, is still considered a 'minority dictatorship' and similar nonsense, will eventually be accepted as a natural state of being *obviously, it still isn't fully accepted.

And since she has influence, she can raise awareness among the ignorant masses and give a sense of self-acceptance, for example, to a girl who admires and respects her, to accept herself as well. That's the whole point - she is a public figure and it's great that she has done something for herself and for others who are 'different.'

Because it will also make her own life easier, and let's not lie, there are so many people who are not heterosexual but hide it precisely because of the narrow-minded majority who suspiciously claim to be 'hetero' - if they are truly at peace with themselves, why does someone else's sexuality bother them? She is a pretty, charming girl, and I'm happy for her. She is a sweet, cute girl, sings very well, and has interesting music videos, just quirky, which I personally like.
