I was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2005. The first symptom was lightheadedness. Then I saw blood in my urine. The tumor was the size of a golf ball. Had surgery to remove kidney. I still get night sweats from time to time, outside of that I feel fine. My doctor declared me cured in 2007.

Big fan of your videos. In 2004 I was peeing coca-cola colored urine and was diagnosed with kidney cancer in my right kidney. Immediately scheduled surgery. Turned out to be Transitional Cell Carcinoma. Followed annually with cystoscopy and periodic scans. Almost 18 years later I'm still cancer-free. My recommendation to others--be proactive. Seek early diagnosis and treatment. Do surveillance for the rest of your life.

In 1999 I had a kidney stone. I had an x-ray study done and the doctors didn't like a shadow they were seeing so they ordered a cat scan. The cat scan showed that I had kidney cancer. After having other tests done surgery was scheduled. The surgeon a brilliant man, did a partial nephrectomy on my left kidney. He cut away about 1/3 of my kidney, the large blood supply artery and vein bundle, and a softball size tumor that I never felt any pain from. The pain I was feeling was actually from a stone that was also present. The tumor was about half black in color and that part was dead tissue. The most pain I had post op was from the rib rhat had to be removed so that the surgeon had enough room to work. It took about 8 monrhs before I could lay down on either side. Thankfully I didn't have to go through chemo therapy. I was and have been cancer free since they rolled me out of the operating room in October 1999.

Thank you for this very informative topic. 👏
My husband died from complications of Renal Cancer. He smoked, was over weight & had a long history of Purine kidney stones. Did not take his med...allopurinol regularly & often passed stones or in his case, he urinated the stones as orange sand.
Should you have any concerns...please take them seriously. He was only 61. Be well & stay safe.

Found mine at 45 due to a kidney stone. Faced removal of kidney or mass only. Thankfully only had to remove the mass. Now 47 and good check ups so far.
Thanks for all your info and advice.

I was diagnosed aged 47. 8.5 x 8cm tumour. No symptoms apart from my legs swelling up once when I was on an aircraft. Never thought anything of it. Was found by accident

I had an incarcerated hernia that required emergency surgery. While performing diagnostic imaging is when my kidney cancer was found. The biopsy came back positive. Fortunately it was taken care of with outpatient cryogenic surgery.

Diagnosed in 2015 with renal cell carcinoma had a full nephrectomy the summer of 2016 I had no symptoms at the time it was found when I did a MRI on my back I was sent to get a biopsy and the doctor refuse to do it cuz he said it was a simple cyst you have to be your best advocate for yourself he was wrong and if I would have listened I'd probably be dead by now

Had open surgery aka the Big Slice in August 2008 on left. They did cryoablation for 3.1 sonometer and was good to go. Yeah, recovery on that stinks. Then found another mass on left kidney four years later and did laparoscopic with Da Vinci robotic assist for different mass which was 1.6 sonometer having grown from 1.2 when first detected several months prior. Still have the kidney thanks to Hackensack Urological Oncology in New Jersey. Simper shout out to Dr Jennifer K Yates (now at UMass Worcester) for being an incredible surgeon and Dr Ravi Munver with the assist and now head of the department.

My mother was diagnosed aged 53 at the onset of extreme pain brought on by a bedspring. She died age 56 because it was so large and had spread. Her only symptom was the onset of a cough which the doctor wrongly diagnosed as asthma.

Thank you for shedding light on this. I was wondering if you might be able to point to some resources where certain conditions such as CKD Stage 3/A1 might be a factor or what to watch out for with that.

I have a family member (she's in her mid 60s) with congenital Polycystic Kidney Disease. She had a kidney transplant two years ago. The native diseased kidneys were not removed and have less that 10% function. Ultrasound shows numerous cysts on both native kidneys. Does this person have a high probability of kidney cancer? She has nephrologist visits with labs every six months and annual visits to the transplant center.
