To get the most out of your Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer, follow these helpful steps.

Make sure your vaporizer is on a firm, level, waterproof, heat-resistant surface at least six inches from the wall, four feet away from bedside, and out of reach of children and pets.

To fill, unlock the steam unit from the water container by turning it counter clockwise.

Fill the water tank up to the water line with cool water, secure the steam unit back into the water container. Hold for 10 seconds to allow water to enter the unit and seat properly in the water container. Ensure that the steam unit is locked securely.

To use your vaporizer with Vicks VapoSteam, add one tablespoon of the inhalant to the medicine cup or to the water container.
To use Vicks VapoPads, insert in the VapoPad into the scent pad slot. Up to two pads can be inserted.

Plug the vaporizer into the wall outlet and wait 10-15 minutes for visible mist to appear. The night-light will remain on, indicating the vaporizer is plugged in.

If the vaporizer fails to steam, unplug the vaporizer from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool. Remove the steam unit allowing the water to drain out, add one or two pinches of salt to the water and mix thoroughly.

Replace the steam unit and plug in the vaporizer. It should steam within 5 minutes.

Use caution when adding salt. Too much can cause excessive boiling, blown fuse, or tripped circuit breaker.

When your vaporizer is out of water it will automatically shut off.

After each use, empty any unused water from the water container, rinse thoroughly, drain and wipe dry.

Vaporizers require water with some minerals content in order to function properly. If you have filtered water or are using distilled water, this can prevent the unit from steaming. If you are using distilled water, please switch to tap water and try again. If you are using tap water and this does not work, we recommend adding one or two pinches of salt (1/8 tsp). Wait ten minutes for the salt to have an effect, and if it is still not generating steam, or is only generating a little steam, then add a pinch or two more as needed, up to 1/2 tsp.

Definitely get this humidifier. Make sure you add salt!!! Add about 1/8 tsp salt - just regular iodized salt - nothing fancy. Affordable unit (including salt) & looks nice too. I did not have to use distilled water.

The salt trick works. Mines was not steaming. Added the salt and 5 min later I got steam. Sweet. :)

This is an amazing product!, had post nasal drip for about a week tried everything from ginger to nasal irrigation you name it!, after 2 nights of using this this product I no longer wheze when I lie in bed to sleep!.

I needed to add up to 4 pinches of salt to see the steam. Look for the steam about 2 feet above and a little in front of the unit.That worked for me in my medium size bedroom.

Where is the "water line" there is a max fill spot that is an indent. Is this what they are talking about. Other than that I only see a seam.

Well, after being plugged in for two hours no mist, filled water to the max line and even added salt. Not a very good product.

Mine wasn't working with the purified water i was using. I watched this and added salt and boom it was like magic came on in like a minute.
