Thank you for addressing the gig workers. It also extends to people selling on eBay. That means all of us seniors who can't survive on Social Security alone and are selling off belongings and personal treasures will also be forced to report anything over $600. There is currently a bill in the House to mitigate this and raise the level to $5000. Now, there is NO REASON to report anything under poverty level income, unless they plan to tax it, as far as I can see. And taxing the sale of personal property is definitely double taxation, since many states have sales or use tax as well as income tax. THIS IS A MONEY LAUNDERING SCHEME!
